I'm heading down to the match of the round at Nudgee too this week. It'll be standing room only with whats on the line in the main game. The massive Nudgee forward pack taking on the slick Southport backline. Might even have a trot around in one of the games myself. The weather's beaut and the rugby's played with passion, so what better place to be?

With 3 gun sides this year and such a short season, its about time the GPS comp officials got with the times and switched to the Super14 points system. No more 2 or 3 teams sharing the title. It gives the lower teams something to play for - even if its just holding out that 4th try against.

Even better, have the top 2 play off for the tiltle at season's end at Ballymore. Then you'd see a crowd.

Have to agree, would love to see a First XV competitive match at Ballymore. I reckon a crowd of 10k could come out to watch. Fingers crossed

Hell yeah whispers, home ground advantage won't really mean much to either of those teams.

Ya reckon, That advantage at Ross Oval yesterday was worth at least 10 points. The Nudgee 'cheer squad' are fantastic and to be truthfull totally awesom in their excution. If only I had a video of them. IMO if that game had been at TSS I don't think it would have been anywhere near the same result and I doubt NC would forego home ground advantage in any game against TSS or BSHS. Other matches maybe but not against the other big 2.

BBC upset Churchie 19-18 at Suncorp in the curtainraiser. Got there to see the final score but didn't watch the game. Can't remember the last time Churchie lost to BBC but well done to the boater boys.

Exciting game and wonderful to see BrokeBack College get up over the more favoured Churchie - young Jack Dodgson played very well and instrumental in win. This kid had been hard done by earlier in season but vindicated now - well done BBC - Jones's year at Churchie not off to good start. Maybe, just maybe he is not quite as good a coach as some believed. Anyway congrats to BSHS and TSS - either one of them to win. Nudgee's season nearly over and that would be disappointing to those boys. Hear that the game at Ross Oval was a beauty in that it was an absolute arm-struggle with a bit of liuck to TSS at end to win.

If Houdini had have seen the TSS miracle escape against Nudgee he would have given the game away. 30% possession, 30% territory and missed tackles all over the place. Down by 8 points with 3 mins to go. Length of the field try in the final minute. The blue and white army stood speechless. Amazing.

The comp is still wide open with State High still to play Nudgee and TSS. BBC's upset win and Ipswich' narrow loss against State High despite scoring nearly 40 points showing anything's possible.

Second best thing at Ross Oval was the Nudgee boys war crys with the opening of their blazers

Have to agree. That blazer thing was spectacular. I'd say it was reminiscent of the Moscow Olympics but that would only show my age.

It wasn't in essence a Houdini escape. All game Nudgee were desperate to keep the ball from TSS as they knew the consequences if the TSS backs got hold of the ball and it was so dramatically shown.
TSS backs ran the ball 8 times for 4 tries - they are not to be trifled with.
The Nudgee team almost pulled it off however a lapse of concentration by the half, he kicked the ball deep (only the 3rd kick in play all day by NC), the TSS winger caught the ball inside his own 22 and the rest is history.

Dodgson should be a show for one of the GPS sides as is ferocious tackler and the little bloke on wing - only small but great skills. probably cannot get ahead of Sautia and Crook but should be in the mix somewhere. Looks like BBC are still coming second in the premiership race YAHOO

Well tied 3rd anyway. And they finished within 45 points of State High - not a bad result for them.
And there's 7 rounds to go - should be able to at least double those 2 points.
Only stirring. Hope they get up over Ippy this week.

what are the games (and venues) for this weekend??
Home teams first (& recent form):

Toowoomba (lost "The Cup" last weekend V Downlands for 1st time in yonks
25-23) VERSUS State High (2 wins, squeaked home against Ipswich). Tip: State High by 30

NC (how did we lose last week) VERSUS BGS (how did we win last week). Tip NC by 40

IGS (scored 39 points against State High & still lost) VERSUS BBC (stunned Churchie last week). Tip IGS by 15

GT (gave BGS first win in 2 years) VERSUS Churchie (still winless under Jones). Churchie by 12 (sorry Noddy)

TSS bye
Anyone disagree?

Agree with all the winners though GT vs ACGS maybe closer or even go the other way. Churchie haven't been all that flash this year and drew with GT in the trials. GT lost to a new grammar team in their first game, not last years team. Last years team was short 4-5 imports and Emtage and Gardiner as coaches. The time I've seen GT this year they seem to put things together well for a few minutes then go to sleep.

I also think NC will comfortably beat Grammar but the score maybe closer. Just comparing TSS, NC, Grammar that I've seen this year. TSS didn't look that shit hot vs ACGS.

IGS and BBC could be a ripper or a disaster. I haven't seen either team this year. BGS beat IGS, BBC beat ACGS so who knows.

Some results I've heard so far:

IGS 14 BBC 11
Nudgee 41 BGS 5
BSHS 47 TGS 22
Terrace defeated Churchie 23 - 17
