Nudgee looked great yesterday, they played as they usually do, dominant in rucks and everyone played their role well, Teina Graham playing in the second row which i think is a good decision. However the flankers and 8 played pretty mediocre, young winger Eli Rauluni showed great promise.

TGS dominated against Lauries today, more of an opposed training than a trial match but Lauries could not handle the TGS boys. Isiah Wuruki TGS winger looked very dangerous and reserve halfback Jack Brown went well. TGS definitely troubled Lauries more than Ipswich and BGS, Ipswich beat them 26-5 I believe.

Nudgee's back row is very competitive this year with the likes of 2nd XV players such as Taj Bednall, Harry Bate, and Xander Park all possessing the ability to play 1st XV GPS level footy. I imagine there will be alot of shuffling around during the trials. Although Ben DiDonna at flanker should be leading the pack as he is one of Nudgee's most aggressive players - not to mention he played the majority of last season, even though he started trials in the 3rd XV.

Was pretty much a semi opposed team run. I wouldn't read too much into it

What a Suprise!! A terrific performance today from the BGS First XV, getting up 28–21 over Shirley Boys’ High School from New Zealand in what turned out to be a thrilling encounter at R.A. Henderson Oval. Despite missing 6–7 key starters, Grammar came out firing and raced to a 21–0 lead early in the match. The cohesion and structure were impressive, particularly given the number of changes to the starting lineup. However, Shirley showed their class and resilience, clawing their way back to level the scores at 21–21 and applying immense pressure late in the second half.
With Grammar down to 13 men after a couple of cards, it looked like the tide had well and truly turned. But in a moment of brilliance reminiscent of backyard footy, brothers Elijah (Year 12) and Kaylen Breen (Year 10) combined for what would be the match-winning try — a pinpoint cross-field kick and perfectly timed finish that sealed the result in dramatic fashion. There were a number of standout performances across the park. The reserve fullback wearing 22 was excellent, showing composure and strong kicking under pressure. The big No.5 looked very promising with big runs and big hits despite seeing a yellow. No. 12 Harper Enasio had some powerful carries and broke the line on multiple occasions. No. 10 William Dreisson controlled the tempo smartly, while No. 8 Dyer Akauloa was relentless with ball in hand and in defence. Elijah Breen at 15 was electric all game, and a real attacking threat from the back. The BGS forward pack, while significantly lighter than their Kiwi counterparts, held their own admirably — showing real grit at set piece and in open play. The so-called “Bomb Squad” off the bench also made a strong impact, defending with real intensity and making crucial tackles in the dying stages.

A huge thank you to Brisbane Grammar School for hosting the match on the beautiful R.A. Henderson Oval. It’s a brilliant setting for rugby and it would be fantastic to see a fixture like this happen in-season in future — the atmosphere would be something special.

Cheers, DB

Is there any where I can get trial games that are being played in the GPS schools they don’t seem to have any mention in this forum unlike AAGPS NSW ?

Ballymore cup was the first hit out for a lot of these GPS squads where as schools like St Laurences are running straight into an AIC season so I would hope they would go better. I would not read much into Ballymore cup results as I know many of the GPS schools had numerous players out as many boarders left to home for the holidays and opted to give the younger boys a go.
