Evening all,
Firstly,, I want to introduce myself formally to the forum. I am a TGS old boy finishing in 2004, I played in the first, and yes, for all those asking I do remember facing the feared Ben McCormack. Sidenote: Ben McCormack was an absolutely outstanding player back in his heyday and an even better coach, from what I hear.
Yeah, look a little bit of news I have heard about this young fella for a while. I have a close family friend whose son played with Will growing up. He is a big, strapping young man standing at 6'3 and has put on a lot of size in the off-season. He is a damaging ball carrier, as he displayed on the weekend coming on for the 1's, and I am thrilled to see him playing this weekend. He has worked tirelessly to make it and deserves his opportunity, wouldn't be surprised if he has a blinder this weekend.

Hope everyone enjoys a massive week of 1st XV rugby

TGS old boy should be good friends with @TheGPSBloke

Coming from a man who is only new to the 'GPS' ? What is all this NC slander about?
Agree. There are rarely comments that support NC. Seems to be a lot of jealousy for a school that dominates year in and out across all age groups and divisions. Lots of talk about coaches who are ex wallabies etc etc. seems like NC does not need this as they instill at a young age skills knowledge and belief in their students. Where as other schools wait to 16s to do this. When you as a young fellow have lost year in and out by big scores to Nudgee the psychological impact of knowing you haven’t beaten them is there. If you look at the scores from any week but let’s pick round 2, the only time Nudgee lost was when they had to play against another NC team.

TSS clearly couldnt hack it against nudgee but i wonder if that was from the pressure of playing on ross or poor lead up towards the round.
Could have been the pressure. But they were touted as contenders for the premiership and if you can’t handle the pressure of playing on Ross and end up losing convincingly, you need to reassess what you are doing. The forward ran out of steam quickly and Kingsley, touted as being one of the best, was missing all game.

As we near Saturdays arrangements I would like to throw out my game day predictions.
GT will take out BGS (+12). it will be hard fought from the grammar boys, but I think GT come out on top.
IGS will take out BBC (+5). I think this is gonna be a really good match up, IGS will have heaps of confidence, but BBC will be wanting (needing)their first win.
NC vs ACGS (+19). It wont quite be the blood bath that NC made last week, but still NC will reign dominance with their strong f/pack and electric back line.
TSS vs TGS. I'm really unsure about this game, let me know what you think.

I'm expecting a dog fight but TSS walk away with the W
I would like to see my old school get up against TSS. They can't be underestimated, and despite the bad start to the season, I feel like the boys will be fired up and looking for a result. Tom Bailey is one of the best forwards in the competition, and if there is any forward pack that can compete with TSS, it will be this one. Not to that, our backline hasn't fired in any of the matches so far, wouldn't be surprised if we see an upset this weekend

It seems that TSS struggles under pressure, especially when trailing in a game. They appear to lose confidence and let their emotions dictate their performance. Maintaining momentum is certainly easier when leading - as shown in the Terrace game in round 1 - , but their difficulty in mounting comebacks highlights a lack of maturity and resilience to handle adverse situations effectively. This is not me saying that TSS is a bad side, they are a contender. However, this is something that they will have to manage moving forward.

Heres a quick question for you, what would your 'dream team' gps u16 players be, and why?
Can't say I know many of the boys playing in u16 but I can't go past those second rowers for GT. Big Rohan Clany and Joey Grice are definite shoe ins in my opinion. Rohan has been playing in rep sides for years and you can almost put him down as GT's #4 for next year already, gritty runs and good in the air, the kids got a big future. On the topic of Joe, I like to refer to him as a 'breakdown specialist', although it's not the most stylish job he's always in there ripping and tearing in the rucks, quite a stalwart player in my opinion, just goes out there, does his job and comes off no silly business. Consistency is king when it comes to Joey's playstyle and I think the grittiness of his brother beside him makes them a deadly duo for this year and the next.

I don't know about all this BBC slander flying around the forum nowadays, I get they went down in a questionable loss to BSHS but a loss to IGS will still be a big result for the boys at the swich, I still have BBC getting up by 5 or less.

Hello Teniela!
Here are my predictions that I posted on Monday, I have copied it below.

Hey all, Here are my Tips for this round. Please let me know your thoughts

GT vs BGS - Brisbane Grammar side consisting of shifty backs such as 'reader' will ask plenty of questions however the BGS forwards aren't looking strong. After an impressive performance from the GT forwards, with much improved lineouts and scrum work, as well as shifty backs moves I cal lGt taking this one.

IGS vs BBC - Bit of an underdog pick here, but I'm calling IGS to win a close one. With increased confidence from last weeks result against the heavily favourited TGS, and a polished team chemistry, IGS will sneak over BBC after a loss against Favourites BSHS. BBC must improve their scrum in the late game if they want a chance, perhaps using substitute Lucas Clifford AKA THE PITBULL will assist.

TGS vs TSS - After a tough loss at ross, a still strong TSS side will look to bounce back with a strong home side. With the loss for TGS against IGS and a long drive ahead of them, I can't see TGS pulling through on this one.

ACGS vs NC - A pretty obvious one after the absolute statement made by NC last round. With the absolute statement made by NC last round against top 5 competitors TSS, as well as the scrappy loss against a strong GT last round I cannot see Churchie competing in this one, especially without star fullback Treyvon

I really just don't think those BBC boys have it in them, if they don't get in front of the 8 ball against IGS, I think the conversation should start around them potentially peaking in the pre-season.

I cant agree more, although i have never heard of this so call rohan clancy, word is out about the talented superstar joe grice is, from what I hear he brings such pure passion and raw talent to the game which is somethng rugby Australia has been missing for quite a while now, although my question is why terrace don't have him atleast benching for them right now?

Late Game Scrum Work seems to be a recurring factor for the 4066 Side - maybe using their utilities on the bench such as Clifford, etc would help them get over this week against my boys from the west.
