Do not discount the other star player at Terrace, Alejo Luongo Ruiz. He has the heart of a lion, an absolute weapon on the field. Originally from Argentina, Alejo has been working through the ranks at St Joseph's and has always been a standout player, consistently finding himself in the A or B team, a testament to his incredible skill and dedication. State High 1st 15 beat the Nudgee Second 15 by 2 points
Hey Mate yeah Nudgee‘s loss was likely due to their loss of rising star Hamish ‘The Hammer’ Clifton. With the young gun moving to downlands to be reunited with his family on their sheep farm in the darling downs region. The Hammer was a promising Flyhalf who played a dominant season in the 15As last year, with rumours of him putting large pressure on Charlie O’Connell. Clifton a typical pass first number 10, scored 7 tries in 8 games last year, didn’t miss a conversion 17 of his attempts. I’m keen to see this player play in the GPS‘s bye rounds.
This front row is going to have a real good fight against Churchie‘s big boys of Sio, Harry Solofa and Gordon Barrie. If you haven’t heard the name Gordon ‘Ruthless’ Barrie, it’s probably because he’s only new to Anglican Church Grammar School. Starting the beginning of this year all 114 kilograms of this boy is ready for the big smoke in the Queensland GPS Comp. Moving from New Zealand, this kiwi will be a challenge for any other GPS scrum.
Haven’t got a full team list for GT in season, however these are a few names that the current kings of the hill are playing in there trial against Toowoomba Grammar School.
Wouldn’t be suprised at all if these boys end up going all the way. Based on there trials last Saturday they will be very hard to beat. The forwards are undoubtedly the fittest in the comp with there prop Nick Weir running a 4:50 bronco at 102 kg. The work ethic from the forwards alongside there ball running backs like Joe Grice will prove to be the difference. They are a team that all do there job with no individuals. They will definitely be eating some shark fin soup at the village green come Rd1.
