QLD Colts 2024

Did you see the game? All 4 Norths tries scored by props - not much running rugby in the backline - generally makes for a pretty tight game, could have easily gone either way with 20 to go.

Certainly may have been their downfall today 5tries to 2 win by Souths well done.
Brothers looked sloppy on the weekend. Watching the replay, they seem to just crumble after South’s were giving it to them. Could put it past as a bad week for brothers but things didn't look promising, especially with brothers players just focusing on getting into a push and shove rather then their footy. Expect much better structure from such a strong club

Wow, looks like a cracking Colts 1 competition this year with Wests, the surprise leaders and remain the only undefeated team after 6 rounds after an impressive win yesterday, against an improving GPS team at Yoku Rd.

It’s been a huge turnaround in 12 months for the Bulldogs as their Colts 2 squad is undefeated as well and currently sitting in 3rd place so the Wests Colts regime under returning club stalwart Phil Mooney, is paying dividends thus far.

With tough remaining fixtures against Brothers, Easts and Souths over the next 3 weeks to conclude Round 1, the resurgent Bulldogs are building nicely into the season and are playing some good rugby.

However, things can change very quickly with injuries etc and no doubt a few more plot twists before the end of Round 2 and the race to secure a Top 4 berth for the finals.

Whilst Norths made a few costly errors today I think they should rightfully feel hard done by.

Was down at GPS for the day and the Prem Colt's got called early by the Ref due to the side line abuse he was coping. It will be interesting to see if there are any further ramifications for the club. Not a good look.

Unfortunately it goes on too much, theres not a single club innocent of dishing out abuse. Many years ago now when I was 16/17 i’d run the touchline for my dads colts team he’d coach, as driving to his rugby was my way of getting the learner hours up for driving. Just simply putting a flag up/down when a player/ball went out could carry some choice words, it was even at a point the club made complaints at 2 grounds regarding it.

EDIT - just watched the ending of that game on RX, theres no excuses for any ref abusing, but got to raise that was a pretty absurd call off that line out though

Second half of the season in Colts 1 is going to be good, halfway through and you can say there is still alot of teams in contention for finals and it is an incredibly tight competition this year.

I’m putting Norths as a smokey for the 2nd half of the season to upset the apple cart, majority of their losses have been tight affairs and even defeated an impressive Souths. I’m assuming they’ve pulled Will McCulloch into the Colts 1 from Prems to target this.

The score was only 14-7 to the filth with 6mins left. GPS shot themselves in the foot with some bad fan behavior

Who was the brothers touchie on the weekend? Was it the bloke that has been doing colts and Reggie’s for them for years?

The Butchery and The Glue Factory are possibly the worst behaved supporters in the comp over the years. Club presidents/committees need to step up and address the behavioural issues that continue. Refs should not have to cop that rubbish at any time. It's time some "attendance bans" are put in place on identified individuals and groups.
