The Gen Blue team (really Waratahs A) is playing the Argentina Pampas XV on Friday March 7th at 2.30 pm. It's at he David Phillips field in Daceyville.

That match will be followed by a NSW Colts Under 20s match v Aus Barbarians at 4.30 pm.

The second match is a trial game to choose 28 players for NSW Colts who will play in the National Under 20 Championships in Canberra starting on March 21st.

Be there.

Any clues on team lists Lee?
Will some of the match day 23 bench get a run under their legs? The Pampas side is strong from all accounts and contains some top line players.
Also any indicators on the Baa Baa 23?

Cunningham went to St Ives High School and played for CHS Is in 2008 as a no.8, and was then on the bench for NSW Is.

He went to league and is now back.

Word was in November, when he turned up to train with the Tahs as an Invited Player, that Scott Fava asked Cheika to accept him for training so that he could get back into rugby union mode.

But, since the Tahs media release this morning said that he was unattached, and Fava is the Northern Suburbs coach, that story could be bunk.

You could see at training that he had played the game before and he held his own in the sessions with the contracted players.

He started for the Gen Blue team last week against Samoa A and was very good.

Whilst the bye is not great for the Waratahs at this early point of the season, it gives the chance for some of the bench players to have a full game: 1 Jeremy Tilse, 2 Tolu Latu, 9 Brendan McKibbin, 12 Rob Horne and 13 Matt Carraro.

And 8 Tala Gray and 10 Jonno Lance will relish the chance to have a full game coming back from injury.

6 Jed Holloway, 14 Ben Volavola, 15 Cam Crawford, 21 Matt Lucas and Greg Peterson have already had two starting games for Gen Blue and 7 Pat McCutcheon, one .

Pumas test players in the Pampas XV team are:

2 Matías Cortese, 5 Tomás Lavanini,7 Tomás de La Vega, 9 Tomás Cubelli, 14 Matías Orlando and 15 Román Miralles.

Another one, 11. Santiago Cordero, must be injured.

The best of them is scrummie Cubelli, who started against the Wallabies in Perth last year.

Fiji Warriors defeated Force A by 36-24.
Pampas XV defeated Samoa A by 38-24 (yesterday).

1 Reds A 11 3 2 0 1
2 Force A 10 3 2 0 1
3 Fiji Warriors 6 2 1 0 1
4 Junior Japan 0 2 0 0 2

ZONA B Pts P W D L
1 Pampas XV 14 3 3 0 0
2 Waratahs A 9 3 2 0 1
3 Samoa A 5 3 1 0 2
4 Tonga A 5 2 1 0 1
5 ACT A 2 3 0 0 3

Fiji Warriors, with a bonus-point win over Junior Japan next week, should top Group A. That seems very likely based on prior results. And it looks like the Pampas XV won't be caught in Group B.

So the final will likely be between those two (and their extra scheduled meeting will just become the final).

I have to say that watching acouple of the ACT games they have been very disapointing - to say that most of those guys are the next in line to play Brumbies may be a worrying sign for the Brumbies coaching staff - of course you can say that they have only had a handful of games with eachother - but alot would of gone through pre-season together with the Brumbies...

Saw the Tonga A game on the weekend and the ACT side just lacked the basic skills, catching the ball, making the 1st up tackles, bad tactical kicking etc etc - there were some good players but overall they really have not impressed - the scoreline of 20-29 really does not reflect the game - Tonga A was all over ACT from the 1st min.

I thought the ACT were the least physical side, NSW has played thus far.
Although that might merely be a function of watching it from further away(it was at the SFS)
I thought your 10 & 12 played as well as your backs with Super contracts.

Isn't this team coached by Tim rapp - who coached Oz schools last year?
does that explain what I would have thought was a worrying (in the sense that we seem to be short of blokes from 2012) number of 2013 school leavers for an under 20s team???
Or am I paranoid about the state of the game between age 16 and 20 in this country?

^^^^ As there are always some Yr 11 (and the occasional Yr 10) boys in a School 1st XV, there will always be (and has always been) some U19 qualified boys in the U20 squad.

With an arbitrary cut off date of 1 Jan determining the Age grouping, there will always be some boys born in the Jan - Mar period who are more akin to their "brothers" from the Oct to Dec period the previous year than they are to the boys born in the Oct to Dec period of the year of their birth.

Your point about the unmapped, unpaved, poorly signposted, twisty and unlit goat track that is the "Pathway" is well made. Everytime you think that progress is being made, and credit where it is due, the Pulveriser seems to have made some progress in this regard with the NRC, U20 rejuvination, JGC etc they go and do things like "fine" the Under 6's for playing rugby or abandon the U16's to the grass roots with no notice.
