NZ Domestic comps

Wilson

Phil Kearns (64)
If he's off-contract, given CruSadists' current 5/8 stocks he'd at least be worth another look.

Edit: what I mean is he wouldn't be the first schoolboy star who's struggled to make an immediate impression in the adult game. But if his time at the Force has made him a better player than he was at the Crusaders academy, & of course if he's up for it, there's no reason not to give him another chance.
Wouldn't be surprised to see the Reds have a chat to him with O'Connor now gone and Parata's Queensland ties, though they'll probably go with Mason Gordon first.

For anyone wondering how heavily it's raining in the Tron right now I can report that my indoor outdoor area has sprung three leaks in places that have never leaked before; the path to my outdoor outdoor area is under water; and I've therefore retreated to my indoor indoor area & am pretty happy that we're roughly 10m above road level.

TLDR: it's fucking pissing down, bro.

I'm keeping my avatar for a bit longer...

Losing Strange & McDonald so early I thought Mako would struggle big time & to be fair the lineout turned completely to shit but the scrum held strong (thought ref missed a couple scrum penalties in second half) & the five loose forwards (the usual three plus Aumua & Tavatavanawai) plus the kids on either wing got the job done. Parata some more nice touches other than missing a sitter penalty but who cares, Mako are now not only Shield winners for the very first time but also Shield defenders for the first time ever. Loving it.

Yeehaa Tasman won, the Naki gets shield challenge on Sunday and could be game for top spot going into QFs!!!
On game itself, I thought Findlay Christie, Willie Havili and as usual Timoci Tavatavanawai were bloody good, and their whole pack did job. Coxon (Western Force prop) had a good one too!
Will have to say again how much I love NPC , we at end of season and almost every game throwing up difference answers to finals games etc , throw in shield matches and I loving the rugby.
Auckland won't /can't finals though, along with Manawatu ,Southland and Northland.

An AB's laden Cantab side ship a worst ever 65 pts to North Harbour?

Zero surprise.

Pre-match team chat wouldve been ".....look, DON'T get injured, with Razor in now we are ALL going to be fast-tracked into the AB's so just save yourself and don't get injured and this time next month we'll all be sipping champers on the champs elysses and sunning our ballz in sunny downtown Bordeaux...."

Moody, McLeod & Ennor (off the bench)...

"show me on the dolly where the horrid Cantab touched you..."

Note: Harbour also put 50 on Wellington.

Edit; oops, t'was Counties-Manukau who did that.

WTF is going on in Invercargill? If Stags were a horse there'd be a stewards inquiry.
Wonered that myself mate. What an absolute fun game of rugby to watch, the kind of game that the Stags can throw for their home fans huh? Geez stoked for their home supporters, they beat neighbours Otago in first game, and finish like this. By the powers there will be some Speights disappearing in Invercargill tonight!

Canterbury got bonus point so through to finals,
No team north of Counties are playing in finals, so they can all sit there and watch I suppose.!

And best of all Naki have a home QF next week for me to go to!!!

Oh well, 'twas fun while it lasted & at least it's gone to someone who's fans gaf about it.

Still trying to work out why Mako kept going to the tail of the line-out which only worked once vs getting picked off or at least disrupted multiple times. Dumb footy, that.

Think they were spooked with Lord in the middle WOB, but Boshier is bloody good at tail of lineout!
I strongly suspect we may have to be happy with shield for the summer, as I think we will be without 4-5 players with ABs and ABXV for the last game or 2!
I happy with that!
