And as both WOB and I agree a fitting send off to a complete and utter sports fan, Brucey was a man never destined to make a lot of money, or indeed be in a position to make big decisions that would change the world, but as I had said I will always remember him leading the Athletic As back into the clubrooms when I they won comp. I know he was running the water etc for the B's for a few years after I left the club, a classic case that we get in sport of someone who did everything he was capable of for the clubs he supported.
I doff my cap to you Brucey!!

I very much like the look of the nominees WOB, somehow quite pleased there a women in the nominations for player of the year, and would tend to think it shows what a good level of coaches we seem to have when Shag and co don't get nominated. I would be more than happy to see Razor sneak that one in, but both Moore and Philpott have good claims too.
3 pretty good boys for the age grade award to I think.

Awards night & the first major gong goes to Referee of the Year. Finalists Glen Jackson & Psul Williams, winner Ben O'Keefe. Compere Sumo Stevenson made a crack about Cheika turning up at half time to congatulate him.......

Next up it's Age Grade POTY, finalists Will Jordan (U20's & Tasman), Braydon Ennor (U20's & Canterbury), winner obviously Asafo Amua (U20's, Hurricanes & Wellington).

Ruby Tui gets Women's 7's POTY. Could just as easily been Portia Woodman or Tyla Nathan-Wong, any of whom would've been a deserved winner.

Duane Monkley Medal, the award formerly known as the M10 Cup POTY & presented by the legend himself, goes to Jack Goodhue (Northland) ahead of Asafo Aumua (Wellington) & Mike Delany (Bay of Plenty).

Can't argue with any of those winners WOB, I have to admit to being real stoked to see Sam Whitelock get player of the year, still a player who in my opinion doesn't get reconised for just how good he is.

^^^^^^^ I tend to think DJF's award had a degree of sentimentality about it but the others all look on the money. Totally agree re: SW, SCane's turn next year, maybe :)
