Kellaway

I have been told that the coaching staff at Norths were very keen to have him play for them but in actual fact the only reason he took up the invitation to trial was to test himself and see what the standard of HMC is. He had never played leauge before and he was the best player trialing, that tells you something about his ability...

Shame he didnt see it through, it would have been good to see him play at this level. For me it would have answered a few questions about him being able to play under defensive pressure! Do you know why he he didnt see it through? I will hazard a guess and say that it might of had something to do with the team.

As it stands Nth Sydney are not the greatest team in the the HMC, however in all fairness they do not have a great juniors base to slect a competitive team from. Essentially they form their team from players that cannot gain selection or secure a place with other HMC teams.

Probably did himself a favour in the end! Nevertheless what I am interested in hearing about is your view about him "going missing" during the harder games. I too have a similar view (see above) and would be interested in hearing you elaborate on the subject if it isnt too much trouble?

Regards,
Newbie.

NSW Shools v SJRU Conflict

Guys,

As most are aware each year NSW Schools and SJRU have alternating "first dips" on players who are eligile for selection in either of their teams for Nationals. If my memory serves me correctly I believe it is the turn SJRU in 2011. Am I correct?

If so can those who possess an intimate knowledge of CAS and GPS schools please give me an insight into the official (or un-official of the record) position of such schools on the concurrent selection of their boys where SJRU has priority?

I am of the understanding that CAS and GPS Honour Boards within 'NSW Schools Rugby Selection' appears in a prominent place within each respective college, yet I have a contrastingly synical view of SJRU selection; it is my belief that the same generally appears somewhere on the 'CHESS (OR TIDDLYWINKS) HONOUR BOARD' in the female toilet of 'Z WING'. And in fine print as well!!!!

Tell me I am correct ... lmao!!

Regards,
Newbie.

Yes.. Interesting if the State champs finish with Gordon v Parramatta in the u16.

I've seen the Draw for the U16's State Championships, Gordon are in Parramatta's pool, but don't have to play them, this will probably mean Gordon will face Parra in the final as they can't play each other up and until there

Also hearing some noises that ACT could be a strong contender this year. The link to their team list appears to be broken though.

Don't discount Norths or Hunter, also Penrith Baa Baa's are a dark horse.I still can't see anyone with enough fire power to knock Parra off!

You only need to watch Andrew Kelleway play every weekend to see him "under defensive pressure". Playing 1st VX in GPS is exposing him to far more pressure than the under 16's HMC every would. In the 2 biggest games (apart from GPS) that I've seen him play recently, City v country and NSW V Queensland there was no "going missing". In fact I reckon he was the best on ground in the QLD game (attack and defense!!!)

As you've got the draw there, would you be able to tell us what the games being played at each time are?

Pick of games at 9am are Norths vs ACT and Eastwood vs Gordon. Both should be tight. The other games are Sydney Uni vs Southern Districts and West Harbour vs Central Coast. Uni and Wests should win fairly comfortably.

10 am, Warringah vs Hunter probably the pick, although Warringah appear not as strong as recent years and would expect Hunter to come through. Randwick vs Central West and Manly vs Penrith are the other games. The latter will be interesting to see how strong the baby blues are.

12 noon, standout game is Parramatta vs Sydney Uni, chance of an upset perhaps ? Other games are Souths vs Central Coast, Wests vs Gordon and Norths vs Penrith.

1 pm, all 3 games on paper look fairly one sided with Warringah vs Central West, ACT vs Manly and Hunter vs Randwick, the latter being the best chance of a surprise out of those 3 although I would doubt it.

I don't think Canterbury will upset Parra but will your baby blues win a game?

Don't be too hasty to right off Central Coast. Could see them beating Uni, rats and souths. Couldn't see a win coming beyond that. Forward pack are all workers, tough little halfback and Jack Stonestreet in the cetres.

My picks for the semi finalists are Hunter and Gordon as certainties with Parramatta/Sydney Uni or Norths/ACT filling the other two spots.
Both the Parra/ Uni game and the Norths/ ACT game will be nailbiters but I would not be surprised to see Uni go the whole way.

Uni, sorry Canterbury struggle in the 16A Sunday comp, I don't know how you expect them to do that well at this level.

Apart from the obvious players like Kellaway and Tepai, who are the boys to watch for?

RT, by baby blues I meant 2 Blues 'B', not Manly (assuming you are assuming I am referring to Manly). Our guys will struggle to win a game indeed. However, I suspect their best chance is in that game. They will also get up for Norths I would imagine given the large peninsula contingent, and won't disgrace themselves there either.

Dermo, watch them all, there is going to be a great deal of talent running around, the whole weekend will be a cracker.
