In the thirds, TAS 29-Shore 5. TAS scored a quick try, then there was a period of more even play before TAS scored again 14 minutes later. The second half opened with a quick Shore try again followed again by a period of more even play before TAS started to run away with the game.

I thought it was a messy match, with TAS playing below the level against Grammar. TAS has quite a powerful forward pack and some fast backline players. TAS dominated the scrums and used pick and drive to effect, but there was too much loose play, too many penalties given away, while I didn't think that the line-out performance was good.

As Shore tired, the fast TAS backs started to run through, while the TAS forwards became completely dominant. I think that TAS has the strength to win the thirds, but they are going to have to play better than they did today.

On Shore, I thought that they kept going and didn't give up.

Well done TAS.

Shore never give up, they just seem to be outgunned in almost every game.

I think that's right about Shore so far as the never giving up is concerned. I watched a number of the games, including the TAS 15As against the Shore 15Cs.

On a different topic, it's interesting, maybe I'm wrong, but I reckon the creation of the thirds comp has been a GPS masterstroke. It's a really open and interesting competition that has brought a third of the GPS schools back to Rugby.

I am not especially interested in the top comp because it has no relevance to me. Now I cheer for the minnows in the thirds!

Just adding a further point. To me, the Rugby had stopped being a truly GPS competition, just a comp among a limited number of schools. Now I'm back, involved and cheering!

Hearing bad news out of the Scots camp, kellaway suspected broken leg don't know if its true but im thinking its something along those lines

I don't know about Firsts, but who knows. Speaking just of TAS as the school I know best, when TAS is good it's often very good. A top TAS team would smash the thirds. How do we manage this? Do we introduce an advancement/relegation system?

Yeah good win but having a couple of a Scots boys sent off certainly helped. Joeys will need to improve on that. Some individual brilliance from the backs got them home

Massive game at hunters hill is afternoon. Joeys dominant for most of the game save for a couple of electric breaks from the scots 11 who bagged a hatrick I think. Scots scoring after a massive scrum after the bell to score and ruin the joeys party, which by all accounts went for most of the day over scots!

A huge result for scots and cracking games from the scots 11, 8 and 5, huge games from those boys. Joeys forwards were all outstanding and the 13 pored a real headache for scots.

News on the scots fullback is that he has done something to his ankle or shin if I heard correctly, off to the casualty ward tonight for scans I would think. Very unlucky for the young fella, let's hope it's a bit of bruising and nothing more. Well done to all the players this arvo

Scots 34-31 Joeys -lived up to all the hype, one of the best schoolboy games I've ever watched. Scots were smashed by injuries with Stiles and his replacements Maddocks both coming off and Kellaway playing the whole game with a very dodgy leg. The first half was try for try with MOTM Crafts scoring three for Scots with his ridiculous pace. Joeys were just as good, with the forwards absolutely dominating throughout. Scots dropped quite a bit of ball in the backs, and Joeys 12 McDonnell had another blinder exposing Strakey in defence. Joeys were up 31-29 with 2 to go, were dealt a very harsh blow when their scrum came up (an immediate reset if I'm not mistaken?) the ref called play on leading to Kamp scoring in the corner. A big shoulder charge in the dying moments should have also gone Joeys way but it wasnt to be. An absolute classic at Hunters Hill, Scots should feel a bit lucky but are a very classy outfit and should win the comp.

In the 16As, Joeys won 15-10 with a try on the bell to Tom Wright. Again another great game, but as stated before I think the Scots boys should probably focus more on footy rather then dirty tackles and punches.

Scots 3rd XV 26(?) SGS 1st XV 15.
4 yellow cards of which 1 seemed justified.
Scots midfield very impressive.

What, and have three players sent off? The 7 was red carded for punching the hooker in front of the ref and the other joker, the angry ranga, spear tackled the No 4 and broke his nose. Joeys had the upper hand from half time - those two boys should focus on playing more. Having 13 boys lost it for them. Poor discipline.

I spoke to Mrs Kellaway. Andrew will be having scans tonight. Was hobbling badly after the game.

The scrum laws are clear.

Law 20.8 Front-row players
Lifting or forcing an opponent up. A front row player must not lift an opponent in the air, or force an opponent upwards out of the scrum, either when the ball is being thrown in or afterwards. This is dangerous play.
Sanction: Penalty kick

In short, Joeys were robbed.

TSC played SJC in 20 games today.

TSC won 3 (1st XV, 13A and 14G's)
SJC won 17

Why did Scots only play 20 games against Joeys when they have 30 teams at Bellevue Hill? Anyone?
