Ha ha - fair cop.

BTW Qwerty - i didn't say every game, but i did say 30-40 points. I couldn't be bothered going back too far but here are the Newington 2nds scores for 2009 and 2010

They weren't too competitive mate...

Newington College 10 Shore School 41
The Scots College 22 Newington College 12
The King’s School 38 Newington College 21

Newington College 12 St. Joseph's College 45
St. Ignatius’ College 31 Newington College 5

Newington College 7 The King’s School 34
St. Ignatius’ College 31 Newington College 0
St. Joseph's College 46 Newington College 0

---------------------------

New 2nd is not much different from 2009, 2010 and 2011. This year is not the same as last year - they have a competitive team.

I know you love Newington Blindside... But you have got to think that it would be pretty hard for the selectors to leave out a boy who played Aussie Schoolboys last year? How he got there is another matter, but Wells is a certainty at Number 8. Miller will be close, and maybe Villmaa for the 3rds... Think Walters will get picked ahead of Baldwin as well.

Stewart and Roods are the best centres - so i think the selectors will have to pick both.

It will also be interesting to see what happens to Roye. Will he play wing or in the backrow? If New pick him in the backrow i think his coaches will stuff his rep chances as he is not as good a backrower as some of the others out there (not even close), but he is a capable outside back.

Well if no one else wants to play 5 ... I'm sure I've got a bit of free time that week (lifting me at lineout time will be another story).

onto other matters, who is playing who next week?

QCF how are Kings 16As shaping up against Joeys this weekend? Joeys have been pretty dominant in this age group since 13s but I note that Scots cleaned them up on the weekend and King's from all accounts had a good win over New.

Given that Joeys have a fair few out playing in the opens I'd say Kings will probably win. These two teams have been pretty close in past years and I think the last time they met it was 5-7 to Joeys. So with the addition of 4 new boys to the Kings team, and 3-4 of the best players missing in the Joeys team one can only assume Kings will win. We'll see though.

How did Kings new players perform against Newington? (I think that you indicated in an earlier post that they are Davis, Matson, Tulloch and Carter?)

I think Joeys also picked up a few injuries in their game against Scots which from all accounts was a pretty phyiscal affair. How about King's - do they have their top 15 on deck?

I think so, although I'm hearing Bateman may have sustained an injury in a game outside of Kings.

Their loose head from recollection? He'll be a big loss in their scrums. I've seen him play in rep games and he was recently selected in the ARU's U16 Merit Team- he's an excellent scrummager and has a very high work rate for a prop. Joeys also have an excellent front row especially their no 3 so it will be an interesting contest in this area.

As for those four new boys how did they go against New?

i wasnt there, but im told they performed well, with Carter and particularly Tulloch the standouts.

So these new King's boys in the 16s are Davis(9), Carter (11?), Tulloch (centres?). Is Matson a back also?

I was sure Carter played at wing for the under 15s NSW side, I thought Tulloch played centres and our State no. 10 was a St. Pat's boy but you may well be right.
Someone at their recent Kings match want to let us know of their current positions then?

I think you'll find Tulloch played at 10 for NSW Country U15 last year with Davis at 9 and Carter at 12 or 13. Matson played at 4 or 5 for Sydney U15 and all of them except Tulloch went on to play NSW U15. The NSW U15 no 10 was Jamo Clarke from Trinity.

Kings performed well but in the end were outplayed by Newington whom seemed to never stop and looked much stronger, No 9 for New could be a problem as the backs didn't get quick ball. The score a half time was 10-7 Kings way which was helped a little by a loped sided penalty count.

Dempsey will be no where near that gps first team for starters, much better backrowers, the 7 will be close between Baldwin and Walters, not much separating them, I would use one as the 6 and though i believe Amituani should be one of the props with Allatola i think Barakat from scot will get the gig due to him being selected as the 4th choice loose head in nsw last year even though i believe Amituani would be much better suited, the battle for the #10 should be most intriguing
