Just a quick heads up - all schoolboy threads have been locked at Sportal so expect ALOT more people joining in the coming weeks (predominantly schoolboys).

Welcome all. Play nice and we'll get along just fine.

To all the newbie schoolboys joining this august site, welcome. And behave yerselves. There are a number of Old Boys from your schools among the members of G&GR, we've been through what you went (or are currently going) through but some years ago. We know where you're coming from.

For starters, familiarise yourselves with the rules of this forum. Here they are: http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/forum/threads/3284-Rules-of-the-forum

Welcome to the new migrants
If you think the moderators are easier here you may be in for a shock.
Things are much tougher but far more enjoyable. You will learn from these wisened souls if yo take the time.
We do far more than coach from the sidelines.
Now, lets see those NSW schoolboy teams. Qld needs some fodder.

A great day today at Stanmore and New against Shore was an absolute cracker of a game.
New scored a hard fought, but convincing win 34-17 in front of a massive home crowd.
Shore were not disgraced and played the game of their lives until early in the second half when the New forwards finally took control.
Brogan Roods returned from injury for New (after 12 months) and played strongly.

Agreed, good game at Stanmore. I thought the refereeing was somewhat slanted after 21 penalties were awarded to shore, compared to newingtons 1.
Great play by newington 2,7,8,9 and centres. Shore forward pack stood up and challenged a much larger new forward pack, yet were absolutely dominated in the backs due to a severe lack of size. Should be interesting to see how they both go against the other sides. Shore 4,8,9 played very well

James Scholtens was the referee for the above match he teaches at St Augustines and is a very experienced referee with a lot of first grade experience. Now dropping back through the ranks to referee school 1st XV games. Good on him.

That's an interesting 180 degree turn. At Sportal you were best known for being a Joey's policeman and resident bully. You referred to an old boy as a 'disgrace' IIRC? Isolate, demean and marginalise, yep that's the Joey's spirit Sarge.

Yes, an excellent ref, are you saying he's not taking NSW appointments anymore? A penalty count of 21-1 is a little difficult to believe

You can check up on it, it was quite strange. Play came to a halt in the second half, there was no momentum, which damaged both teams chances

If that was the penalty count, there have to be some serious deficiencies with New's technique and discipline. Did he escalate to yellows or were the penalties on a spread?

one yellow. not really, it was given quite sparsely, mostly at the breakdown. didnt play any advantage either, stopping an almost certain try from the new 13 due to a shore knock on.
