''There was 8000 people there,'' Mr Hogan said. ''It was the best game of rugby in 30 years between the two schools … I can't tell you exactly [what happened] because I was watching a fantastic game of football.''

More like 1500 to 2000.

well seeming as there were 1000 joeys students there and about 500 riverview students, 1000 people seated each side of the joeys students and the entire sideline packed with people about 5 rows back, the corners were so packed that people couldnt see the game i think that you numbers are a bit wrong and Mr Hogan was more on the money.

The Leo St grandstand holds 3,500 ? Doubt that very much. The seating on the opposite side of the oval is three tiered bench style.......

Joeys 10s vs 9s at 9am on SJC 1. Promises to be a big crowd for a big game.

Also Joeys 1sts to bring home the shield with a win against New as New will choke to View next week after losing to SJC.

Newington are expecting a huge crowd this weekend and the barbeque boys have ordered over 2,000 bread rolls. Both the First XV and the First XI are playing for premierships. Don't expect Newington to choke. The composure the boys showed last week was a huge improvement over some of the earlier games - particularly the loss to Kings and the draw with Joeys in the trials. The scary thing is that this Newington team hasn't yet played to anything like its potential- just glimpses here and there. No game against Joeys is ever easy but the Newington boys are ready and will give it their best. Bring on Saturday !!

Think Newington will need to tighten their backline defence if they want to be any hope of beating Joeys. The SJC backline has some electric talent and Kings were shredding up the NC outside men every time the ball went wide. If they can do that then I can't see how Joeys will be able to hold out the big forward pack. Newington by 8.

Agree. seeing Newington in their game against scot and kings - they are getting better and better. Their no 3 try against scot is same try he got against kings - 5 meters to the try line have to be more than 4 defender to hold him up. very effective using his weight especially the money ball. Newington come from behind in their game against scot and kings - that's show their patient and wait for their chance. However, both team will give their best and we wish them well. Newington by 10.

Young fella, I've only lived around the corner for 30 years, but I'll bow to your superior knowledge

How outside are we talking about? Can't see Roods being 'shredded' by anyone, he's an excellent defender that normally leaves his opposite with unpleasant memories. If you're talking wingers on the other hand, it may be for the fact that neither are specialist in that position
