Disappointing, but all the while necessary. It would’ve sat well with me knowing the master in charge of our beloved G&G community was present to witness the sheer glimmer that filled the air of Northbridge as the gladiators of North Sydney finally got their hands on the most coveted piece of silverware known to School boy sport. A monumental shield that has spent far too long locked away in the underground chambers of hunters hill, parramatta, Stan more terminal 3 Etc….. Glad to hear you however were fortunate enough to sink your teeth into our home grown delicacy 3.14159’s. Congratulations to the men of Shore and respect to the Joeboars who stood humble in defeat and now look to conclude their season with a FIGHT out at Leichhardt (For #!#* sake Riverview just install a fence)

- With much joy I send my regards and prayers for an efficient recovery

They should just play the game at Joey’s if view can’t be professional and host the event …

A historic premiership for Shore, for the first time since 2006 has now placed the school objectively as The Best All Round School in the GPS. 1st XV premiership, 2nd Head of the River and the highest HSC ranking out of the 6 schools in the first xv competition. The school has come a long way since the departure of the last headmaster and deserves all of the credit it is receiving. Vitai Lampada Tradunt

With the current standings on the ladder, I wonder how each team is currently positioned compared to what the pre-season predictions were? For me, notwithstanding the Shore performance to date, I really believe that Kings has surprised quite a lot of people especially as they were predicted wooden spooners this year.
Kings outperformed, Scots underperformed, Shore lived up to expectations, Joeys probably in the middle. New maybe a bit under.

Johannes Logan returning for Joeys this week, i assume he will be seeking to make up for his red card in the kings game. Expecting him to be monumental for joeys in a big win.

Who would you recognise as the central figure in the resurrection of sport at SHORE please?

Maybe not the central figure. But the school council met a few years ago to discuss the future of Shore Rugby. They considered dropping the 1st XV down to the 2nds comp. Instead they employed a new MIC, created a centralised playing style (so it doesn't change from year to year), and invested in boarding scholarships so that country boys could gain the same opportunities to compete as boys from Sydney. A few years later they hired a specialist Head Coach rather then a teacher.

Dave Mason Jones, 1991 captain of the Shore 1st XV who is now the MIC of Rugby at the school. The coach of the 1st XV Angus Sinclair was also the captain of the 1st XV in 2008. Schoolboy sport is built off passion for the boys and the school exemplified by these two, which has ultimately been evident in the schools results and this season winning the 2024 premiership.

This was the Scots College model.

I was at Scots in 2009 when this exact model was implemented. EVERY TEAM had to play the same style with no regard to the players coaches had. If they lost game after game, so what. At least they won a premiership. During Scots premiership run in the 5 years of playing Joeys, each year they won no better than three games each year. The 2nd's would complained that they were the cattle for when a star was injured. During that time some very good rugby staff left as they could not deal with Herr Directors edicts.

It has it's negatives long term as everyone learns how to play you but from where Shore were it is the most risk averse method for getting a program back to breathing overall which is good for the comp.

5 Sides would have been an issue because then it becomes a who's next and Shore wouldn't have built back from 2nds. it would have been the white flag.

Out of the Shore camp… No 11 Francis out with knee injury. After lots of shuffling already with injuries (Kingdom), may be a very different team with positions within the 1 XV potentially changing, and reliance on 2XV
