They have both been the 2 best performers for Shore and definitely have to be in there somewhere. They do have a big name and reputation behind them but they certainly can back it up
Shore has had a pretty middling set of results so they’re probably not guaranteed a thing. On form, Le Mate isn’t the best 7 in the comp and Bouncing Basso isn’t the best 10 (or best 15).

Gen Blue also picks players from Club land who are U18. That means Langi from Kings last season now at Easts is eligible. Good for the Front Rowers to play older players and then come back down.
Some other individuals that are returning is Niulala Samuel (Trinity 1st XV 2023, u18s Gen Blue Squad 2023, Eastwood Colts 2024), Farr-Jones Tom (Newington 1st XV 2023, Randwick Colts 2024), Watts Tom (Kings 2023, Sydney Uni Colts 2024). All 3 have been selected in the SJRU Under 18 Boys Sydney Rep Team. Interesting to also see Felix Harvison (Shore 1st XV 2024), wonder how it will work with what he does if selected in a GPS team? Boy can I not wait to see Niulala return to battle against some school boys, from what I have been able to watch of his colts games he is one to watch for this upcoming u18's Australian Schoolboys.

very disappointed so far from the boys from the east. I was expecting more from them this season, speaking to my nephew Finnlay he said to me "Uncle Jim the whole program is a complete shamble" The Scots coaching staff need to pull the program together.

Any truth in the rumours that the Scots coaches don't actually pick the 1sts lineup....it's someone higher up that does?

you've got players in there that didn't play Gen Blue this year or last year and have missed a whole bunch of Opens players from last year
missed multiple 16s players from afew of the schools.
Why are you mentioning 16s players and last years 18s player. I was talking about this years U18 waratah games that happening in late Feb and early March.

Tell me
How many staff take a team?
Are the majority of coaches outside people?
If you find staff coaches are in the minimum then you can’t build consistency. Does the Dark Lord take a team? Joeys boss does. Are there others?

Kings HM doesn't, but the 2IC did for a long time, he used to coach the 2nds but doesn't this year. I'm not sure if he has picked up a team in a lower age group. I'd say all Kings teachers are given a coaching responsibility of some sort, but that covers the other sports obviously. I don't think Phippsy coaches a team but that would be because he has too much else to do, not because he doesn't want to. There are 'gappies' and other outsiders e.g. Charlie Cale helped out with the 15As a few years ago. The Hilgendorfs certainly run the show at the top end though.

These schools are big businesses these days - hard to imagine a Headmaster would have enough time to coach a team with the workload.
Agree - ideal situation is to have a large number of teaching staff involved in the rugby programs. Problem is too few are qualified and that a passion for the game is also required

I wonder who wrote this? A schoolboy I think so.

Very confused with this as Newington are at least in the top 3.
Riverview's scrum and lineout on the weekend were awesome, after watching a few of Newington games seems like to me there forward pack is seriously harmed with no cleverly in there and just seems lost on the field.
