A short summary of the Joeys View game.
View controlled the first half. This was abley assisted by some of the officiating which was at times pedantic for both teams. View won hands down the kicking contest that Joeys seemed happy to participate in. Views forwards were more dominant as well. The first try was typically view, rolling a ball behind to get the chase. The second was terrible defence from joeys who had 4 players around a mid field bomb and let it bounce and bounce again for it to be swooped on to score on the bell. Every time joeys had the ball in the first half they either dropped it, were penalised or kicked it. All within the joeys half, often within the Joeys 22. The try they scored was the only visit to views 22, and they almost stuffed it.
At half time, looked like view were being gifted the chocolates inclusive of the box.
Second half saw an unfortunate kick off for view resulting in Joeys gaining a scrum deep in their 22, View infringed, and Joeys took the Tap and barged over thanks to a nice switch play with the backs.
The second that gave them the lead they worked it through the forwards. Joeys classy backs were nowhere to be found as View flooded the outside channels. The Joeys 12 was given some room and did take all on offer. The kicking game in the second half was more even and while you felt view was ontop in the forwards, it was not by much and they did not really trouble the joeys defence that much.
There was a moment in the second half where the View View play ducked and weaved and caught a joeys arm and joeys were fortunate that they were not down to 14 men with 11 to go. Having said that View was not troubling the joeys defence and to be fair, Joeys was not really troubling the view defence either.
A tight Contest, with View willing, but, Joeys, just had a touch more class when it mattered. The score was reflective of the game.
