[Old High Boy]

Robert Toia was outstanding in the U19s State of Origin game last Friday at Leichardt. In a soundly beaten team he was arguably the best on the field and seemed physically different from the others. Roosters have another there. Would find it hard to believe there is a better Center in the country.

Round 1 began with 32 starters (16 races), Scots and Kings VIII got thru to the 2nd round. Scots got knocked out last night whilst Kings have gotten thru to the 3rd round with 8 boats remaining. No racing tonight for the boys.

I believe that the Henley rowers will play their first game in the team below where they were originally seeded. My best guess based on that is the following for the games against Shore:

Staniforth - 2nds
Menzies, Leahy, Duta - 3rds
Rogers - 16Bs

Best of luck to the boys at 12.05pm tonight, they look seriously professional

Kings blokes over in Henley have lost to St Paul's, whom I believe is a school over there in London. It was a close race though, kings boys put a lot of effort in towards the end, but St Paul's were just too good. Congrats to both of em!

Kings were outclassed by a crew of 16 year olds from St Pauls. In fact their 5-man had only just turned 15.
Will be interesting to see how St Pauls (the perennial favourites) go against the yanks from Woodrow Wilson (an underprivileged public school who had to raise their own funds to get to Henley). The other semi is between Eton College and Radley - also excellent rowing schools.
Time to put the oars away and dust off the footy boots boys!

St Pauls always produces some of the best schoolboy crews in the UK so this is not surprising. Also many of the boys in the Eton, Radley, St Pauls crews started rowing at least a year or two before their Australian counterparts and their facilities (Eton’s Dorney was used as the 2012 Olympic rowing venue) blow all Australian schools out of the water. Pun intended .
