Competition Tables for 2022.

Here is some commentary...
  • There are TWO joint premierships in 16As and 13Bs.
  • Mind you some people will use the points for and against to help separate them.
  • It is very close between Kings and Scots in School Championship, despite Scots winning 3 premierships outright to Kings two shared premierships.
  • Shore are the big improvers in senior age-groups but struggled in lower ages.
  • "Strongest team of 2022" based on for and against is the Joeys 15A's with +184 over 5 games.
  • Average score for the 15A's over 5 games would be 42- 6
  • Closest finish was the 13B's with only ONE point separating Joeys and Riverview on points difference.
  • The team that scored the most points was Joeys 13A's.
Some tables have been effected by some schools with forfeits and mismatches.

Awesome job @Joker for doing this all year!

Bet the View supporters wish they didn't wash out the Scots weekend. Would have got a couple of wins there especially in the 13s and 13B's in particular and 15s when looking at the scores Joeys put on them and View beat Joeys. View administrations fault.

it wasn’t even Joeys 15B’s that played Scot’s (it was the C’s or D’s) B’s played Knox A’s that day.

Thanks @ Joker. Loads of interesting data here. Joeys 15A’s is a great team, at least 9 or 10 players are in the U15 Gen Blue extended squad. Based on results and differentials in 1, 2 and 16’s then next year will be super close again. Will any single team manage to pull ahead. Scots should have a well seasoned squad but New and Kings have pretty young opens groups this year. Time will tell. Until 2023!

Thank you for the feedback.

This concept of tables and weekly score updates was the idea of another senior member here. He has a keen mind and some spare time and this was something he enjoys, the accumulation and examination of data. (like myself) He wishes to remain anonymous though and stay in the shadows, but I can assure you he is a stand up guy, Joeys Old Boy and passionate rugby man. I will pass onto him your praise and a bottle of red wine from us all for the work he has done to produce these week in and week out. My job was mainly chasing scores and speaking with staff from AAGPS who expressed concern about this idea. Data like what we have collected this season is good to examine and find patterns for a path ahead. This was not collected to be used as a bludgeon to use against another.

Finally, another big thank you to all those who contributed results this season each week. We had to do some cross checking at times as we strive for accuracy. Joeys in the only school I know that makes it weekend scores publicly available via "JoeysRugby" on twitter (established by yours truly). It is a simple service and many people appreciate way we share score updates and information with the wider community. I sincerely hope that one day other schools do the same. All it takes is some good will and good people to run it.

Confirmed from a mate of Marshall's dad the rumour about him leaving for Canberra is not true whatsoever, heard he will continue on at shore and play for the rabbitohs under 17s this summer

Your point about the bus isn't true though for example when Scots travelled to kings the bus was packed with everyone from 13s to 16s Rugby and even soccer boys. Especially in the juniors people to tend to watch at least 2 teams before them and the firsts are always at the games long before the start of the seconds game

You note that senior boys (lets not focus on just the 1st XV - Remember we should be focusing on the college/culture not individual teams/players) supported the younger age groups when they played on the Main Oval last year (2021), how often did the younger teams play on Main last year? From memory it was 1 weekend? If that's the case they would have supported 1 x U13, 1 x U14, 1 x U15 team and the 16a's.

I couldn't agree more, there younger boys love watching the rugby, its a DAY at the rugby! Kings seniors are allocated a junior team and run water/kicking t etc on a Saturday morning in full winter uniform.

It's not a criticism, more an observation and discussion point around culture. Im curious as to why no other (that I have read) school/college, rugby union culture is being discussed on this forum. @Joker you may be able to answer that? All AAGPS Schools/Colleges have a focus on Rugby in Winter and no doubt invest heavily in their rugby programs. It would appear the only programs who would be happy at the moment are Joeys and Shore, I would imagine all other's would be disappointed in the season just finished.

That is a bit harsh.

There has been plenty of discussion here of the rugby culture at Newington and Scots College this season. With some new members this season they have focused not just on results but on the general culture of their school programs. B&W, dusk and Wyvern Boy would constantly write about this. Props and Secondrowersarespeedy have been sharing the Scots culture (watch out though for some Scots fans as they can bring a flamethrower to the culture especially when they come last)

If you read all 250+ pages of this thread, you will find plenty of discussion about school culture and not just the usual nonsense school boys bring. To why View and Kings culture are not discussed as such is because they have strong rugby culture and we know it. So "what is understood, does not need to be discussed" is applied. Joeys is written about for two reasons.

1. It is the blue ribbon standard of schoolboy rugby culture in Sydney and possibly Australia, This makes it a point of fascination.
2. There are plenty of Joeys old boys here who share and explain the culture to those who wish to learn. God knows I have tried.

Anyway, with that I shall attempt to the make this the end of season 2022. Thank you all for your good humour, debating skills, corrections, tips and suggestions. I hope you have enjoyed season 2022 as much as I have. It has been a pleasure to be the "lunatic in residence" once again.

A big thank you to those members who I have meet throughout this season in person. It has been wonderful to catch up. (Special shout out to the Shore, Scots and View boys who called out to me during the season. Sorry I never turned around). Finally, well done to the year 12 Joeys boys who chanted my name last Saturday. #walkon

Who were some of the standout players in this year's competition? Being in QLD I don't hear much about the AAGPS
