They also attended to buy the former College at Hurstville, but the then state government blocked the development so it was abandoned. If it gone forward we now would have a campus of 900 to 1200 hundred boys, located in the Souther Districts, with the prospect that Rugby would have a stronger hold in the shire.Trinity bought a site in Oatley in the mid-90s with a view to establishing a feeder/satellite school. Plans weren't approved due to local opposition, but, Trinity had accepted an increased number of junior entrants for the proposed new school. They then had to cram these new entrants in the two junior schools at Strathfield and Summer Hill. It caused quite a bit of discomfort for a few years; however, the standard of junior sport at Trinity during the late 90s improved considerably. I don't think my son won a game of cricket or rugby against Trinity juniors ever.
The site was eventually bought by the Dept of Education and is now Georges River College Oatley Senior Campus.
Scots was originally located in that area (Brighton Le Sands). Lots of GPS families there. Most popular schools are (in order) New, Scots and Grammar. Scots Prep however enrollment demographic at Brighton very very different to Bellevue Hill. More into soccer by the looks than Rugby.Oh damn. I do think the acquistion of the school site in Brighton Le Sands was a good move. Southern Sydney has nothing in the way of large independent boys schools that play rugby. This is why Scots where the first to send designated buses down to the shire every day.
Trinity though made attempts in the early 2000s towards establishing a campus in Sydney's southern suburbs. Such plans have been postponed indefinitely by the School. If these worked they would dominate the south. If this is where Scots are looking then they are very smart.
