If we go back to the trial game between View and Joeys, the Joeys boys (as attendance was compulsory) had their approximately 1,100 students attend. Riverview, with a change from being a rugby school to more academic with the introduction of Hine over Hogan (2016), are now only getting about 300-400 to a game - and this is what we saw in the trial match at Joeys; about 300-400 Riverview boys, and 1,100 joeys boys. This has been the case for a few years now.
Now, if anyone can recollect these matches from the last few years they'll notice that while Joeys have definitely had the edge, there hasn't been a huge difference in the volume of the two schools, despite the (roughly) 700 difference in students attending the games. In particular, we saw this at the 2022 trial game between the two schools. 300 vs 1100. And what happened? Again, Joeys was a bit louder, but it wasn't so noticeable that the Riverview boys efforts were redundant.
So why does this matter?
Well, due to the venue change and the nature of the matchup with Joeys,
1200 Riverview boys have requested a ticket at Leichhardt. So, if we were to apply what I discussed above, we are placed in a bit of a predicament:
If 300-400 (away) View boys come close to matching 1100 (home) Joeys boys war-cry efforts, whats gonna happen when there are 1200 View boys?
I pose the question to you.
BOB
P.S - Even if one to argue the View boys have had more than 400, there is no way they have ever gone to even 600 in this season, which is just over half the Joeys crowd. My point stands either way.
