completely agree, Joeys vs Shore should be one hell of a match! Will anyone be videoing it or know if it will be live-streamed because I will probably be at Newington to watch the game against St Augs.
Hello Dusk

I rang a streaming service, about getting the GPS Matches,The reply was the GPS HeadMasters were opposed to streaming these matches, so unless there is a change in the current attitude amongst the Headmasters, we will not see them anytime soon. Also, many thanks for your comments on the New Scots game.2

16A result is important, as these two sides have been the two strongest teams in this age group.
Scots 16as missing Zach Fittler, Toby Brial, Leo Jaques and Finlay Bartlett due to Leo injured and the rest of them playing Seconds/firsts. Newington had no 16's in the firsts/seconds so it wasn't exactly a proper match up but was still quite a good game.

Greetings avid readers, all posts saying Newington and Joeys are the strongest prem contenders is absolutely gobbledygook nonsense. Riverview (2021 undefeated premiers, which, we ALL know, should be acknowledged as official prems as we destroyed every team by 50+ points) have a very strong forward pack and one of the best backlines Riverview have produced in recent years. I strongly believe that Riverview will end the season as outright undefeated prems followed by a weak Shore and Joeys team respectively.
Oh Goodie the View year 12 lads have arrived. Just remember....don't look them in the eye and they will go away.

New win 16a 19-14
Scots win the 4ths 17-12
Scots Win the 3rds 17-7
Scots Win the Seconds 27-0
1sts 1 try a piece
Thanks Rob. Nice to see you again. I look forward to our continued love/hate relationship this year.
Scots go down to the 12th XV?? How many soccer teams do they have? This used to dominate the numbers

Hi All

Got all but tips. Trinity went down to St Pats close. Brave Oakhill lost to Barker in a close one. Spoke to New 1sts coach briefly after the Scots game and he was fairly happy with his New boys. Need to tidy up some areas but mainly happy.
Don't bother asking Rippa for his backline/team for Newington ? Brave is not his strong suit.

Hi Dusk

18th June 1st GPS round. Scots v New, Shore v Joeys. Home team fisrt. Few more trials yet. Big crowds at the Hill and Northbridge expected. I will be at Bellevue Hill but Northbride will be jumping. Good for GPS Rugby. Early tip is Shore at Home ( the apprentice is fishing !! )

Touchê Joker Not sure about soccer ....... who cares! Four five boys playing up from 16as in seconds and firsts yesterday, might help to explain the score in the 16as and 2nds respectively. Quite surprised the 15as was so close, I have long held the belief that Scots should only be playing other schools b's or c's. There have been some very nasty injuries to boys playing for Scots 15as when they should not be due to Glengarry.

good to see the View Yr12 lad's contribution, but perhaps a few facts are in order.
There was only one comp game in 2021, and the table after this single round was:
Rank
Team
Points

Against
1
Joeys
2
38
13
2
View

So naturally Joeys should be declared premiers for 2021

Let's not let the facts get in the way of a good "premiership".

For those who have not seen this document, here is a the best record compiled by a Joeys old boy. The AAGPS website is pathetic for results.

This document is considered a work in progress as schools are cooperating to find the unoffcial winners of the 3rds XV in the year the trophy was not presented.

Also, we shouldn't be hesitant in providing numbers for Grammar, High and TAS.
In a historical, but unfortunate manner, Sydney High as I've heard, is only able to field one team in the opens, down from 2 the previous year, and down near 4 from 2019. High had to forfeit a game last year due to injury numbers, so this year may prove a challenge. However, it must be noted that while depth is severely lacking, individual talent seems to be of high calibre, with 5(?) students making the selection for the regional CHS team. This, if the math works out, is the highest in recent years.

Good evening Wyvern boy

Brave I am, but stupid I am not. What you see at Newington is what you get. There is no one else to pick. A large number of the current Y12 boys have withdrawn from the program, despite being from an incredible year group, so the 2nds are full of Y11 boys, and the firsts have a large number of Y11 boys also. So people should be asking what on earth is going on for so many boys to be opting out.

The bigggest mistake they made was breaking up that 16As side from 2020 to prop up the senior squad that year. It destroyed the camaraderie and in 2021 a large majority of those same boys played in the 3rds because the school gave preferential treatment to the Y12 boys. They’re now reaping what they sowed in the previous couple of years.

Watching their performance against Scot’s yesterday simply confirmed my opinion That there is no depth in Newington rugby, which is sad.

If there are mounting injuries in the 1sts the season is all but over for them. Looks to me like they may have already lost 2 players in the backline, and there’s really no one to replace them.
