Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

I don't want to burst the bubble too much - Wilkin would be a big upgrade on Gamble for the tahs (and much more importantly Aus Rugby), but we might need to wait for an announcement. Does at least seem like he's hanging around in Australia at the moment though.

I still have high hopes for Gamble, I would prefer to keep him over Wilkin.

I remain very unconvinced by Gamble as a pure 7 at test match level. He's competing with McReight, Tizzano and Reimer who have shown more than him in that role and are all younger. Wilkin I think offers a bit more variety as a lineout forward and general back row cover in very much the same mold as Liam Wright.

I tend to agree - IMO applies to Super Rugby level also. He is a great tackler, but misses the linking and pilfering skills of the aforementioned. He is more a 6.5 IMO.

If he could get back to the play of 22 he's better than Tizzano and Reimer even though Reimer is the best on ball 7 in the country.

He probably does fall into that 6.5 category. Wilkins a very good player but I fear like Wright we won't every really see it as the body will hold them back.

I think Rory Scott has the potential to fly up the list with a good year. Athletic robust 7 to back up McReight.

Don't know about starting as I McReight has 7 on lock and deservedly so. Valetini also going to be there at 6 or 8.

Scott gives me Josh van der Flier vibes (yes they look similar).
Agree Ghost but I should have stated that I think he will start at 8 as an Aussie version of Kieran Read. Scott is 110kg currently and Reid played at 111kg but is 2" taller. Those things are of passing interest but his skill set cannot be denied and that is what I'm betting on. Schmidt brought Josh Vd Flier into the Ireland team and he may see some similarities the same as you do.

He won't get the time at the Brumbies at 8 with Cale you wouldn't think... Who also gets the Reid comparisons.

How is Cale going after the infection which sounded nasty and hasn't been spoken of since. Not in any of the touring parties?

He had shoulder surgery so may or may not be available for round 1 of SRP (Super Rugby Pacific)...

110kg - a bit of an overstatement SMI. Rory is about the same as Luke Reimer and smaller than Charlie Cale.

Was it an injury he sustained training or a niggle that they decided to fix up? You can train around and with a lot of things that should be fixed up but it's about when it suits to do so. Call might have been made.
