yeah makes the whole "ballot" system a bit of a farce. Any diehard rugby fan would have snapped up or tried to snap up tickets already rather than waiting on a possible ballot and no idea if they will get option to buy tickets. The silence is deafening.

These calls from the north to boycott us and go to South Africa are hilarious.
Firstly, do they understand the logistics that go into organising the tour? A lot of that has already happened.
Secondly, although it's obviously the intent to play against a nation who will be competitive, it's also about so much more. Previous tours have incorporated games in places like Ceylon and Kenya. I think the current model is because they settled on 3 countries who were both competitive and they enjoy touring. I could be wrong, but I think after the initial tour in 1899 it wasn't until the 1989 tour that Australia actually beat them.
And I can verify first hand, from a certain pub in Paddington on Sunday evening the day after the 3rd test in 2001, it's not only the rugby talent they are coming here to test out.
All that said, we do need to put on a show on the field, and I am sure now more than ever that that is Joe Schmidt's brief.

Why is it rich? England weren't playing the BIL they were contributing to the BIL. From recollection at the time a reduced contribution.
We have been trading places with Italy in the rankings. It seems to me that an expectation that BIL nations should not be questioning the tour, well it doesn't sound a reasonable expectation.

Obviously he was making a point about prejudging the quality of the opposition before actually playing them. The Lions have elected to tour Australia in 2025 so that’s what’s happening. If they don’t enjoy the tour they have the best part of the following 8 years to work out what they are going to do in 2037.
