League Targets

The Ghost of Raelene

He was up against it. Tigers have some very good options in the backline like Taylan May at Centre and Carter had been playing in the halves in Q Cup. If he want's to be in the NRL he is a five-eighth and that's it. Does a team have an appetite to give a rookie with basically no history a go in a vital position... Coaches lose jobs on this stuff. I also can't see him wanting to do another year in Q Cup.
- Just had a look at the game stats and his 6 missed tackles will be what hurts him. Again, out of position but need to execute the repeated controllable moments.

Another player though Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase). What a freak. Is he the best pure athlete in Aussie Sport? Genuine question.

Can anyone match his speed, size, leap, catch and kick? Plenty have one or two but he's a freak mixture of all of them who is likely to get picked on the Kangaroos tour. Well done to him. French Rugby might offer him all the money. All of it. It may be the Wallabies only way to see him back.

He still has a random brain fart error in him and at times lost in D but it adds to the elite Winger mystique at this point.

Yeah, that was Hooper's idea on Inside Line the other day and it makes sense. Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase)'s already been a Wallaby so it's not like he would be leapfrogging anyone if they selected him from the French system.

Well, they could easily offer him €800k and trump the supposed $800k league would be offering him.

At least into wider squads. Wallabies have used Jorgo, Pietsch, Potter, Toole, Kellaway, Daugunu at some point on the Wings so clearly there is movement and injury in those spots. If he was selected from overseas I'd be all for it. Given he's playing decent footy overseas.

He's also a potential pick for the 7s at the Olympics. He's shown he's good at it and our side at times lacks the big game breaker.

I agree. The only thing League can do and they do it very well is abundant third party deals and the size of it's media platform now with his own endorsements. Some of the top players would be adding 500k to their salaries.

He probably offers that point of difference in the air which may give him selected when we're playing a solid kicking team. Yeah, I forgot about 7's, that's a good shout. Him and JAS would be potent in a 7's team together.

The other big issue helping league hold onto him might be origin - he's almost certain for selection next year at this point, but that might evaporate if he has signed back to union. That's a pretty big career opportunity that not many guys would want to miss out on, at least not once it's so close.

At the very least it might mean he's not putting pen to paper anywhere until the later half of next year. Maybe one series will be enough for him to sate that desire, but we (and he) probably won't know until he's done it.

You would kinda hope they delay the whole thing to after the RWC. That way they can funnel the momentum of the RWC, where a lot of people that don't follow rugby a full season still watch. It probaby won't happen, but that would be best for rugby as a whole.

The post-RWC environment has always been the wild west in terms of player movement as a lot of teams have contracts expiring in RWC years.

R360 will likely want to have their ducks in a row before that madness starts and they potentially miss out on some key signings.

If Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) signed a €800k deal with a French club that woukd still exceed what the NRL could offer.

Carter Gordon looked ok at centre (out of position) in an ordinary side. A couple of decent runs, caught in no man’s land in one of the tigers tries on defence and a dropped ball on a not so great pass The Titans seem to be ok for halves and he seems a waste in the centres. Put him in the storm and he’d be like Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase), but I hope the penny will drop that he’s wasting his talent where he is, Eddie is long gone and JAS can kick goals. Fingers crossed

Gorden came back after missing all but the whole season due to a back issue
Played a couple of qld cup games before his nrl debut
Getting a pre season and full season would be a better indication of his nrl status
Also if he is a centre or 6 however they seem to have plenty of players who can play 6

You’re right with their halves/spine players. Their usual fullback Brimson was playing as the other centre to accommodate another up and coming spine player. If there’s no interest elsewhere he will probably be a centre. I don’t doubt he could make it in league, I just think his talents are more rugby talents, compared to Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) or JAS, which is more athleticism. I hope he comes back. JAS could kick the goals and Eddie isn’t around to gaslight him.
