League Targets

He's done with the Storm. They've tried to offload him before and he's done similar things before.

I think he'd be decent enough if he can control his head. He's a massive human with decent skills.

NAS, Jye Gra, Pap, RTS (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck) (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck), Lomax, Farnworth, Sua, Simonsen have all apparently been made genuine offers and they are large. 6 of those 8 have Rugby experience. Don't think Lomaz has any and not sure about Farnworth as he was a good Soccer player and League.

Options in the NRL for a guy like NAS will be desperate teams who have bugger all real chance like the GC or a side like PNG when they come in. I don't think Mal would want him when starting up Perth.

Base contract for a current SRP (Super Rugby Pacific)/NRL player is $500k USD with a workload that is likely going to be half what they're doing at the moment.

The dream for a guy like Jayden Sua. Imagine being offered more money to go from playing Backrow at the Dragons and making 30 tackles a game to R360.... If it all goes to shit he'll get another contract in the NRL anyway.

The stuff I am hearing about the womens contracts is life changing.

Anywhere from $250k USD upwards and only playing for about 6 months a year. Game changer for the top girls in 7s who are on the world circuit and probably making half of that.

I've been asking about the Levi girls, so far haven't heard anything but you'd have to think they've been approached with big deals. Someone like Charlotte Caslick as well likely to take a deal if its on offer for a little kitty top up before getting married and settling down.

There has been talk that Melbourne would be the Australian team. Potentially helps the game here with another team that players can aspire to. Thats of course if this thing every gets off the ground. And IMHO thats a big IF.
Is there going to be an Australian team?

If I was a R360 investor, I wouldn't be putting any team in this Aus/NZ region. Maybe Perth, for the timezone

I feel like Australians do love an occasion in the sporting sense. Several colleagues couldn't be fucked with either rugby code or the AFL, but whenever SOO, F1 or the Australian Open is on they are looking for tickets.

It does seem fairly real at this stage - both male and female contracts for Australian players are being finalised at the moment.

I know several law firms here in Brisbane who have been assisting professional and amateur players with their contracts. Lots of Aussie women in particular signing up.
Ok Phil - That's the first actual evidence that I've heard. interesting. I wonder if they are targeting Australian /NZ rugby and jail rugby players for the Melbourne team - or whether the players are spread over all the teams.
So many questions such as will each team have an academy / 2nd squad - what feasibility has been done on team locations.

I'd also like a blow by blow account of how in its desperate quest for global relevance, and amidst the fawning media and other mungo acolytes, did the the NRL allow Mike Tindall and his royal wife able to get a close up view of the best players in Australian League in order to cherry pick for rugby360. He was in the fucking change rooms for fuck sake. All the while the mungo media were creaming their dacks at how there were royals at the mungo.

there is talk that its Melbourne. I have a hunch that if they do it well, the locals may get on board. But it needs to have a big game feel to it. Lots of Brits, saffas, PIs and australian rugby fans in Melbourne - plus as we've seen, a stack of locals who will go to the big games.

That was an invitation from Billy Slater. I believe mates from some Horse stuff.

NRL was unhappy about it because they were aware of his R360 connections. I really doubt as the Maroons were sinking cans he was chewing their ear off about contracts. They have better/formal avenues than that.

It's a travelling league right? So twice a year they will get 4 mens and 2 women's matches played over a weekend at the same location.

You'd need a lot of locals keen on rugby as a sport (or at least an event); supporting one of the 12 teams isn't really going to work

That was the narrative post the game - thought it was a tad convenient.

I think it'd be once per year. Based on the reports of 16 rounds (when in a full season) played over 2 windows. They'll surely want to hit more markets like F1, tennis etc.

Latest articles saying Payne Haas linked to R360 and the NRL are considering life bans for any players who jump ship. It is getting very real.

I had to LOL though at their little FAQ section in the article where it says "Who is funding R360?" and there is no mention about the Saudis.

Has the bill actually been picked up?

What's the explicit aim of R360? What do the Saudis get out of it?

Why don't they just buy a few clubs a la Red Bull Newcastle/Twiggy Force/Altrad Montpellier?

Why bother buying a few clubs when you can run the whole competition. Clubs are still bound by the rules of their comeptitions and salary caps etc.

Running their own competition means they can pay whomever they deem the best player in the world $10M to play for them and brag about it and play the games wherever they want.

From what I've heard, they've reached the EOI threshold for players which means contracts are being finalised and signed. Competition isn't 'going live' until September 2026 which essentially lines up with most of the players who have deals running into next year.

What have they done with the golf thingy? Does it constantly have the commentators saying, "Riyadh's actually quite nice this time of year" and "You know what MBS hates more than a bad golf swing? Chopping up journalists! He would never".

I'm quite curious to know where they aim to take it. Or is it just another NEOM in the desert where they grab attention for a couple years before it inevitably collapses into the literal and metaphorical sands of time?

So you're hearing that it is the Saudi's? Because that would be counter to the head of their Public Investment Fund stating it wasn't them. I know that that doesn't mean that they were being conpletely honest but it's interesting if they are.

My firm hasn’t handled any contracts for this yet but there is a Brisbane based firm who is doing a large number of them mostly for QLD based women players.

They did a very deep dive into the contracts and asked a lot of questions around legal jurisdiction as there are some fairly substantial benefits for example maternity and paternity leave.

I was told that as part of the due diligence on ownership, one of the European funding outlets may as well be running out of Riyadh. So yes they might not be pumping this in the same way as LIV, there is still money coming from that area.

I was at a lunch Tindall spoke at where he said it definitively was not Saudi money
