Well Done Kurtley and humble as usual.

How good was James Horwill? Only 4 tests out of ten to finish fourth is outstanding.

That was painful to watch. You could see how uncomfortable it was for the players. Scrap it or change the format.

I struggle to watch award shows, but I caught lumps of it.

Great to see Kurtley's family in the audience - and so proud

Great to see Samo, stunned & thankful for an opportunity i don't think he thought he would get again

As for the suits, a scruff in a good suit is still a scruff

Then Test matches become officially "tiered", and I don't want to see that.

I understand what you are saying, but weighting them differently for individual honours does not mean they are officially tiered.

The ranking points for each team are determined depending on the team they play, and their position, so why couldn't we use a similar system for individual ranking points (ie weight it depending on the raking position of the opposition)?

Or would you prefer that world ranking points aren't determined on the opposition at all, just on whether you win or lose?

His acceptance interview was good and he comes across as a great kid.

Not sure what is with the rather infantile obsession of sticking you finger in another's ear while the are on camera that some other players have though. Also disappointed at how scruffy some of the players look and how badly their suits fitted. Looks like they were just pulled off the rack - surely the aru can afford to have a tailor make adjustments?
Make up your mind are they kids or grown up. Looked like a bit of fun to me.

I think most people would consider 'infantile' and 'kid' to mean two different things. You obviously don't agree with what I said, maybe the first part of your post could have been left out, the second part would have achieved what you wanted to say.

No. Why would one have anything to do with the other.

Don't you want all test matches to be treated the same? Wouldn't then you expect us to play our full strength team for every test match?

You seem to be contradicting yourself.

Sounds very close to it.

So for official world ranking points a game vs Russia should be worth the same as a game vs NZ?

Here is a question for you: Do you think that the top players 'value' a test match vs Italy as highly as one vs New Zealand?

There were a few uneasy smiles from the younger WAGs when Nick Farr-Jones talked about how many kids a lot of the rugby players have.

Willie O has 6!

Nope happy with the first part.

NFJ should of mentioned the "Rooting for the Wallabies" campaign, prime opportunity.

So you're saying the best player against the USA has automatically not played as well as the best player against New Zealand simple because of the opposition. The best player is still the best player and the opposition is irrelevant.

For an award, they need to be treated the same. If you started weighting the various teams you were playing then it would become too much of a moving feast. You would need to reassess the weightings each year as teams improve and go backwards. Do you rate home and away tests differently? Do you rate a win and a loss differently? You would probably need to assess the ratings at the end of the season as well. If you lose to Wales on the Spring Tour and had rated them fairly lowly in terms of the John Eales Medal and then they go on to win the 6 Nations and beat South Africa and New Zealand, the low rating you gave them at the start of the year would be ridiculous.

I just think any form of weighting the test matches for the player of the season award would cause far more problems than it would solve.

Kurtley Beale deserved to win. He played every single test match (albeit coming off the bench against Samoa) and was a key player in the team. Sqeeky Moore was second after also having a very consistent season where he played almost every game.
