Geeez....that was one boring-ass game of rugby.
I can't believe that even with less than 5min to go, 11 points up and 60-odd meters out the Wallabies decide to go for the penalty goal.
Surprise surprise the Italians are slowing it down before each scrum to catch a breather
Commentators blamed the Wallabies for slowing it down before the scrums because they feared the confrontation. :
I also don't believe two of our best attacking backline players - Beale and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) - are being used enough...
It was quite obviously Italian players feigning injury for the first 5 or so scrums
I agree. My rolling eyes were for the commentators.
He reminded me of that line from Dryden:
He trudg’d along unknowing what he sought,
And whistled as he went, for want of thought.
As for winning a few games in a row next year at a certain tournament: how full is the glass on that one?

The good news is they won, and didn't really look like losing at any time during the match. The bad news (if there can ever be bad news when you win) is that the Wallabies were far from dominant, disciplined and consistent. In many ways they barely got into their stride.
The Italian scrum was stronger, and benefited from the Australian 'reputation' during the first half. In the second half, the Aussies showed better scrum tactics (Slipper kept straight and eventually the Italians were penalised for boring in).
