interesting how theres 6 south African teams ahead of them. I get the quality of schoolboy rugby in south Africa is the best in the world but you wouldn't think its that much better then the rest

Having spent time with South African schools' systems, Paarl Gim, Paarl Boys, Affies, Greys (Free State), SAC, Bishops would put big scores on Australian and NZ schools, the level of playing over there is immense. Major games are on TV and the big game of the season Paarl Gim V Paarl Boys always gets between 25,000-30,000 at the ground. Bear in mind every school being private or state play Union. There is no Rugby League or AFL there so the talent pool is greater. (The Natal schools Hilton and Kearnesy) aren't included in the top 6 and they would also beat 80% of the Aussie schools, however I do believe Augs would be very competitive against vast majority of schools.

Great insight, things like this where all roads lead back to Rugby union in South Africa shows how they are so good, and it generates all the way up to international level where the Springboks depth pool is second to none, they can pull these schoolboys out who are already a level above the rest. Makes you wonder what Australia could be like as a Union nation if we didn’t have to combat with the other code, the talent here would be immense.

I agree with Game-Day-Ritual. South African schoolboy rugby is that much better than the rest. There are plenty of games available to watch on YouTube - don't watch the highlights. Watch the full game with the volume down, ignore the pre match fanfare and commentary. Initially you will think how is this different to watching Knox vs Barker or Shore vs Scots or even Auggies vs Oakhill ? But after an hour you realised there been no unforced error, every tactical kick been spot on and every winger from every school is sensational. Thats when you realise the intensity is so much higher over there than what we see over here. Check out some of the games from their Craven Week then go to Granville or Riverview or Knox to watch NSW 1 vs Qld 1. Big difference.

Morning fellow glazers , New rumors of Oliver Metcalf ( son of Luke Metcalf ) has signed a 10-year deal with Penrith and will be playing top 30 in the next year. He will be leaving St Augustine's and going to Patrician Brothers’ College, Blacktown.

Walsh has signed a 3 year deal with Manly. Think it was done from this point. He more than likely would have been a walk up start at 10 or potentially 15 but I'd say 10 if not for this.

Big other outs are Brial and Poynton for me. Marshal will be in some peoples eyes but it is a position we produce a lot of talent at so a slightly off game prior to the trip is all that might be needed.

Might be wrong but I think Hartman is only 17 so should be eligible again next year once playing Colts which helps a lot of these guys.

I believe that Brial has an injury to the knee or ankle. Not 100% sure which.
