Oh I agree. I’m a Donaldson fan and think his ball playing and kicking game has a higher ceiling than Noah. But he’s been weak on the tackle so that isn’t a reason to start him
Has Noah been that much better? We haven't had a tackling 10 for a long time.

No, Noah hasn’t been better. Personally I think Schmidt has backed the wrong horse in Noah, but it seems too close to the Lions for him to change course now

Never too late. Super rugby will still see the boys on trial and form taken into account I’m sure.

Why would Joe be reluctant to give Donno a start? He’s the best attacking 10 we have with a bigger boot. Has also played very few minutes on tour. I also think he has backed the wrong horse.

Maybe, but it would be a bit of a panic move to change the 10 you have built everything around right before a Lions series. Feels like more of a panic move Rennie would make than a calculated guy like Schmidt

Every coach has their bias and players they prefer for whatever reason. Just like Razor preferring to pick pensioners over in NZ, I’m sure Schmidt has a reason in his head as to why Noah is untouchable

Back to back weeks of teams better than us with star players we didn’t want is a bit funny

I don't think we didn't want them, they just didn't have the patience to stick it out and be better than the player's that were ahead of them at the time.
Judas's the lot of em.

Edmed is the only one out of the original 34 player group that hasn’t been selected yet. The fact he has played Uru, Tizzano and Potter gives me the feeling he will pick edmed off the bench for this one to give everyone minutes. Not saying jerseys should just be handed out to everyone but I am sure he would like to have a look at him in action.

Otherwise it was a big wasted opportunity not to send him to play the Australia XV games

Imagine a scenerio where Lolesio gets a serious injury at the tail end of Super Rugby. (one hopes not)
At that time Joe will have no alternative flyhalf who has played many hours under his watch. The alternative in Donaldson who lacks the nuiances & confidence of international rugby, not having played more than a quarter of a game on the autumn tour.
Maybe Donaldson will run on against Ireland.
In Joe we trust.

Why "as a Donaldson fan" would you want him to play against Ireland?

This game won't improve any of our player's reputations

No, a realist would look at Ireland's form this series with NZ easily beating them and Argentina being a phantom knock on away from beating them too, and would look at this as a winnable game if we are at our best

Especially after beating England at Twickenham, putting 52 past Wales and playing a good Scotland team hard after a very disrupted week

To repeat my previoous post, "The alternative in Donaldson who lacks the nuiances & confidence of international rugby, not having played more than a quarter of a game on the autumn tour."
It's not their reputation that's the key, it's their opportunity to improve.
