Webber in again, 21-0. Too early for "game over", been burned by you guys before.

Webber hat-trick & I'm calling it:

28-0 & GAME OVER.

Meanwhile NZL score more meat thru Webber. NZL 21 - AUS yet to open their account.

We're rooned said Hanrahan.

Webber Hat trick for NZL.

Pack up the tents folks. NZL will progress & AUS will mark time in the 2nd division competition.

NZL 28 - AUS 0 with 3:30 to go.

Going to get embarassing unless we can get hold of the pill.

Consolation meat pie for Jeloudev. Converted. NZL 28 - AUS 7.

Not that it matters.

Hooter goes. NZL kick for touch. Game over.

NZL 28 (4t 4c) AUS 7 (1t 1c).

Off to get ready for Tahs victory at SFS.

Can anyone tell me why a try scorer in 7's will wait as long as possible to dot the ball down for a try? Is it just to get a breather? I don't understand.
Even teams chasing a game will do this when presumably, they will want all the time they can get.

Jagman

Trevor Allan (34)
I always assumed it was because the goal kicker has such little time before they have to make the shot after the grounding.

Huh? Draw fairies must be smoking ganja again, it's NZ v USA in the semis, not a bad consolation prize for losing to Fiji.

Aus probably need to win thevPlate and/ or Eng to lose their semi to hang onto 4th in the series.

Brumby Runner

Jason Little (69)
That was a particularly inept performance bu the Aussie team against the NZers. Whoever thought kicking the ball back immediately after taking three kick offs needs their head(s) read. If that's the form of Stannard, we'd better get another ball player in quick smart or reconcile ourselves to no medals at Rio.

While I agree with Brumby Runner , I suspect the kicking from restarts would be a coach initiated tactic.
As for Stannard, I can't believe he is still in the squad. There is a National sevens championship in early March where hopefully a potential successor will emerge.

We have a mental block vs NZ. We just shit the gear vs them. We're a better side than the scoreline reflects when we play them. Worrying signs for the Olympics.

Day 3.

England 26-5 France, Aus v Canada just underway.

Cam Clark 1st try, not converted, 5-0.

Fa'ala'vau scores, not converted 10-0.

Malouf scores right on oranges, converted, 17-0.

2nd half.

Great break by Fa'ala'vau but the guy inside him knocks on, scrum Canada.

Penalty Aus, doesn't go out!

Penalty Canada, tap & go but it all goes pear-shaped, lineout Aus 40m out.

It's all getting a bit messy, plenty of movement but it's all 10m either side of halfway.

Penalty Canada & another gets them within 5 of the line but Aus get a relieving one, less than a minute to go, Aus v Eng Plate Final: you guys need to win it to stay 4th overall.

Fiji v SA coming up, should be a cracker. From a kiwi perspective I hope it goes into some serious overtime, then we may have a chance of knocking the winner over...............

Game on, Afrika to kick off.

SA go close but a HUUGE hit knocks it loose, Fiji clear.

Kunatani scores from long range, converted, 7-0 at 3:27 to go.

Intercept try Mata with Senatla unmarked had he not, not converted, Fiji 12-0 & 1:42 til oranges.

SA penalised 3 times in 30 sec, YC. Fiji lineout inside the SA 22.

Tuwai zigs & zags & scores, converted, 19-0 at the break. They're looking nowhere near tired enough for my liking, c'mon Bokke, make 'Em work for it!

Fiji in again from the re-start, ref checks with his AR before giving it, not converted, 24-0 & I can't believe how easy Fiji are making this look.

SA back to 7 men.

Afrika gets them on the board, nails the conversion from well wide, 24-7.

SA cop another YC for an early tackle. Lineout is midway 10m & SA 22.

SA have the ball but can't get out've their 22, cough it up, scrum Fiji 15m out & a big blind.............

Relieving penalty SA, someone puts Senatla away & he does the rest, 24-12 & here they come again, Snyman in, converted, 24-19 & maybe Fiji are tiring after all. Time up, tho. Fiji put it out, game over.

NZ v USA up next.

Here we go.

USA are 0-27 v NZ, can't see that changing even tho we're missing Mikkelson, Forbes & Kaka.........

NZ kick off, Webber goes down injured, USA score under penalty advantage, converted, 7-0.

Webber back on his feet, we finally get the ball & Stowers is in from 40m out, converted, 7-7 & now Curry has gone down.

Good run from Ioane, Collier carries it on, great wide ball from Stowers puts Ioane over, converted, 14-7 with 0:28 left.

USA lay the ball back but there's no HB so Ioane picks it up & scoots 40+m to score in the corner, converted, 21-7 @ half time.

Barrett does all the hard work but Isles can't hang on, NZ lineout 10m from their own goal line. Wow, they kick for touch from it, USA lineout on the 10m line.

Penalty USA just outside the NZ 22, could've been a YC as our guy had time to roll away. USA score in the corner, not converted, 21-12 with 2:14 to go.

Waaka pulled down but Dickson scores anyway, ref not happy with someone "that's the last time I'm talking to you", try not converted, 26-12 as Webber limps off. Bugger.

USA fumble, Raikabula carries it out. NZ v Fiji GF - 9:25 my time so I'll be at work. stuff.co.nz gonna get a working over (sadly can't access G&GR, some shit about it being a sports site).

Plate Final at 9:35 AEDT, 8:35 Q-time. Win & you double your lead over the Poms for 4th, lose it & they draw level, I think.

EDIT: Plate winner gets 13 series points, runner-up 12 so win & you go 3 in front, lose & you stay in front but only by 1 point.
