Welsh starting to get some ball & go back-to-back, 14-28 but maybe too high a hill to climb from there? WTF? Lineout had formed but Welsh took the quick throw & ref let it go.

Wales in again, if this goes over its game on. Misses, 19-28.

Wales in again, 24-28 with kick to come which is waaaaaay wide, 24-28 after being 0-28, just un fucking believable.

Fiji have the ball, 30 sec on the clock.... Wales get it with time up & go wide but foot in touch, game over.

USA 19-7 Portugal, NZ & Samoa up next.

Maybe empty red seats are less eye-catching than empty yellow ones, but that crowd looks bigger than what turned up to Wellywood last week. Onya, Yanks.
I swear I've seen Carlin Isles make at least three, if not four, single tackles this season. His defense is improving, and he's figured out how to tackle around the hips and drag the runner down with his own body weight. He even tackled Esteves in that Portugal game.

Hold that thought @Waiopehu. Canucks in for some meat to lead 15 - 12 with 1:30 to go.

Rest assured Soap Dodgers will score again. They have made a habit of scoring after the bell in the last play of the game to take the chocolates.

Not this time though. <singing> Oh Canada! Our home and native land ... ... ... <continues singing>

Canucks 15 Soap Dodgers 12

Soapies will probably still qualify to progress to the Cup QF rounds, because Canucks lost to Kenya earlier.

He has definitely improved his game, great to see.

Ed Jenkins gets meat. AUS 12 - FRA 0. unconverted. 4 minutes gone.

FRA have not yet seen the Gilbert, but when they do they get meat and chopsticks.

AUS 12 - FRA 7.

As the hooter sounds for oranges, Pama Fou gets more meat out wide but Chucky Stannard couldn't convert.

AUS 17 FRA 7 at oranges.

Vakatawa gets meat and chopsticks fro Les Frogges. AUS 17 FRA 14. 5 minutes left.

Clarkie's Boy responds with meat and chopsticks. AUS 24 FRA 14. 4 minutes left.

Canucks are +2, Poms -1 & Canucks have scored 6 tries to 5, gonna be tighter than a really tight thing but my money's on Canada Oh Canada to send the Poms packing: they've got Argentina left, Poms have Kenya. Go Kenya, stick it to the colonialists!

Missed a coupla tries watching a Sri Lankan try to go under a Milne bouncer that didn't very much: poor sod wore it right above the peak of his helmet, left a big white smudge & must've hurt.

Aus home & hosed, Plate glory beckons again :)

Good physical commitment until the end there. Although I still maintain we need more speed/x-factor. France only conceded through woeful tackling on Cam Clarke.

French defence was as effective as horse mounted cavalry soldiers defending against advancing Tank squadrons.

I like to watch

Seems to me that the objective for this year is to finish top 4.
So playing the percentages, and being solid is the goal.
No X factor,or pushing passes/taking risks.
i just hope the coach can change his spots when we get to the Olympics.
We have seen it for years in a variety of codes, this game plan gets you to the finals but no further.

This is what I'm worried about.

USA score first v SA.......... it couldn't happen, could it? Kick is good, 7-0.

Afrika levels it up, Senatla puts the Bokke in front 14-7.

Try USA, kick astray, SA 14-12.

USA Try under the sticks, 19-14 with 2:57 on the clock.

Bokke try, kick will be difficult & it's waaaaay wide, 19-19 & 1:00 to go..........

Full time, 19-19. Great effort from USA. SA win the Pool but USA into their 3rd straight Cup QF, first time they've done that, apparently.

NZ & Fiji up next.......................

Try Weber, Waaka gets the kick, 7-0. Gillies Kaka out for a while with a broken hand. Stowers now captain.

Fiji strike back straight away, 7-7

Penalty NZ, lineout on Fiji's 22.

Weber over in the corner but AR has his flag up. Ref wants to review it anyway. Now goes with the AR's call.

Time up.

Fiji think they've scored but ref calls it back for a knockon. Fiji win the scrum but kick it away. Now we've kicked it away. Bizarre. Scrum pretty much back where it all started.

Try Fiji, reckon even I could convert it, Fiji 14-7 & 3:29 on the clock.

NZ getting slaughtered at the breakdown, no one getting over the ball.

0:20 left & NZ lineout inside their 22. Waaka scores, will have a toughie to level it up. Misses, Fiji win the Pool, NZ 2nd.

NZL vs The Wizards. Another classic heavyweight match.

We get to play NZL (I think) in the Cup QF. We will probably be heading off to the minor divisions.
