Jenkins went to the Tahs because the Force have 20 other backrowers & no 5/8's.
JOC (James O'Connor) was considered to small by the Parramatta Eels not by other Super Rugby Clubs.
Well it seems I've upset the Rebels & Force fans with my comments but I really hope the Brumbies finish higher on the ladder to prove my point that with game time & good coaching these young Aussies are good enough to compete at Super Rugby level.
Jenkins still got an opportunity and exposure to elite training and rugby professionalism and now has a starting position at the Tahs...........ie developed
JOC (James O'Connor) got s atsrt at the Force and was playing super rugby years before he would have got an opportunity at another franchise...........ie developed
I hope the Brumbies do well also but if there was only Reds, tahs and Brumbies, a lot of our talented youth would not have an opportunity
In the 2003 RWC final we had to bring a prop from grade rugby in Sydney with a sniff of state experience to start in a world cup final against the best pack in the world at the time. Now Australia has an extra 6-8 props with professional rugby exposure that can be called on for national duty. How is that not good for Australian rugby?
The last time th Lions toured in 2001, they played against WA Gold and NT and NSW country . A joke for them really. The next tour they will play Force and Rebels as well as the Tahs, Reds and Brumbies........5 professional matches against quality opposition. This is an example of "development"
The game has advanced significantly in Australia thanks to the inception of the Force and the Rebels and over the coming decades as the Unions develop in WA and Victoria, the game in Australia will get stronger and stronger.
Thankfully the ARU has more vision than you do
