Thought the wicks looked better when Munro and Harris came on in the last 15 minutes and they scored two tries in five minutes. ^^^ Penrith were massive and contesting hard at the breakdown in the first half, ill tip them too win a couple of matches. The young colt 2nd rower will be good but not up to it at the moment, even physically he hasnt fully developed yet.
Was it just me or were the two randwick wingers both pretty ordinary??? Think they will be alot better team with wright, ford on wings and windon at the back

pstoe would have been pleased Oli looked very good in 2's and got his first grade debut cap coming on late.

Agree they need Some weight and oomph in the back 5. l disagree with their choice of Hanigan who needs a year in colts. Blessed with 7s, l think they're going to have to be careful with Baldwin. He won't hang around to play 2s, and I sense his frustration .

a week changes a bit TC was pretty good yesterday bit of a toss of the coin between baldwin and him, TC might prove to be consistently better? dont know baldwin but he seems to have bad body language suggested this to a mate who siad this was more out of shyness. Interested to know whether the players like Figg as the captain, he was ok yesterday as well. next week id have harris in the row for Hanigan and munro 6, figg 8 and then they have to make a tough choice. Think Kelly will opt for connor

Here in lies the problem if he cant unanimously show that he is abetter player then Connor how is he going to progress to the next level???? If he sticks around and is consistently outstanding then he will get the spot and in the meantime probably impress at a higher level. Easy option to leave and go to a club with no 7's

Like your blend of second and back row. On current form TC should get the nod at 7 but MB brings an added physicality both as a ball carrier and in general defence...so a very tough call. There are going to be s lot of 'nice' problems for selectors in the coming months - jock will be back, nugget is back from Wales and I understand there's another inside centre coming back from the UK as well.

Fourth grade lost to eastwood in a somewhat scrappy affair. Eastwood , as they did all day, had numbers out wide as well the better of the breakdown.
Wicks third grade which is has some quality players coming back from injury managed to reverse the tables and stole most of eastwoods lineouts.
Second grade was well won by eastwood. They had five on two out wide for most of the afternoon and did well at the breakdown either winning contested ball or spoiling opposition ball. Wicks second grade were not convincing which may have been due to the change of players. Baldwin was very good but always in isolation.
In First grade , the Wicks started very well but could not convert. Two relatively easy penalties missed, a try knocked on within inches of the line all in the first twenty minutes. The score line should have read 13-0 but instead Eastwood took their first chance and got points. Finally Wicks got a three only to let Eastwood score a try after a Wicks dropped ball. Eastwood were getting on top and after sustained pressure they were awarded a penalty try from a scrum domination. The score now 17-3 to eastwood which they took to the half time.
Wicks started the second half as they started the first but this time managed a try 17-8 and then another missed three. After 12 minutes Eastwood had their turn and slotted three.
The breakdown had become a lottery with penalties aplenty which then saw Eastwood get a yellow and wicks throw caution to the wind only to have Eastwood score another three. Finally Wicks snap on and score a well worked try. 23-15 Eastwood were looking tired and got another yellow. Wicks took the penalty and took the score to 23-18.
IMO the Wicks were unlucky to not get up as Eastwood were not on song this day. A kicker at this level is a must even if it means sacrificing a spot.

All day Eastwood had the better of the breakdowns and in a lay persons view they managed the ref's at this point very well.

Thought the Eastwood game was a great effort that was an opportunity lost.
The Wicks won everywhere but for the scoreboard.
Oli Nicholson withdrew meaning that the 3rd choice 10 had to play - Norton played well given that he has been out injured with a game in 3rds as his only lead up. His goal kicking was poor however his general play promising.
Thought the 9 has improved greatly from last year.
The defence was great - the loose forwards stepped up.
Liked the centre pairing as well.
Lets see if they can back it up.
Would love to have a goal kicker in the side - lets hope Windon recovers soon.

Any word on when Windon will be back? Could do with his experience in the side over the next few weeks?

I agree Wicks had the better of the rugby but a 'pushover try' against them belies the 'everywhere'.
Credit every where else especially in defence.

The same could be said of two's except everytime they ( 2's) got within 10 metres of the opposition line they lost the ball.

Wicks went through last year without a reliable goal kicker after Toby disappeared o/s and with Windon out we're in trouble again. I'd be prepared to gamble on Tom Hiddleston (the best goal kicker in the club, great defence and good attacking skills) either at FB or on the wing until Windon is fit again. Any thoughts?

Nicolson was the goalkicker in 2s with the highest points tally. He was also the goal kicker in 1s colts last year and their highest points scorer, so no problem for a kicker when he plays.

Stoey maybe if Kelly goes away again and Nick Ryan is sick, Oli can coach the team as well?

Best club thread on GAGR. Love the insights. Passion for rugby is obviously strong. I am not a Randwick fan but would be happy to see a resurgence based on some of the talent coming through. The positive vibe is seemingly resounding around Sydney with Rats, Marlins and even Pirates all talking. Good for rugby, hopefully you are pulling in some lads from Randwick High, Matto and even Marcellin.
