sidelinesid Both teams played on the same track.
Manly's communication in D was reflected on the score board.
Manly 12 Gilmore often drew 2 defenders stood in the tackle and provided Woodhouse with space.
Plus some new combinations in the backs.
Hingano having his first game of the year was strong in D with a number of turn overs.
Fabian still at school playing his first grade game.
Not a bad result playing away on a wet track.
Wicks set a great example of rugby in 2's - well done.

Got to agree with Dave on those points, Manly looked a far better side to the one I saw play Eastwood in the early rounds. Hoping for our sake that there aren't to many other sides that could put four tries on us in the wet

Thanks Pete, was quietly confident in 2's but gee you guys put in a very impressive performance there. Never enjoy seeing the team lose but when it is too rugby worth watching it slightly offsets the loss.

From last year, awesome work. Has there been much change to he player group?
Are there many Super players returning?

Hasn't been huge changes to the playing group, just a massive step up in organisation, professionalism and the overall program since Kelly has come on board.

Three big boys (toa , aho, Tavalli) came from Penrith looking for a shot to earn higher rep honours and the recruitment has pretty much been focussed on School leavers, mostly local kids like the 7 in twos from waverley Johnson.

Also the return from injury of Lam and a few others have helped.

The best thing Randwick are doing is investing time energy and given a shot to their young guys - Horwitz, Johnson, Norton, Pennington, Roy, Bolieu, Wiseman and jesse Harris

Horwitz was not disgraced today in very trying conditions, playing with a maturity well beyond his age.

Any chance of changing the thread title to "Pretty in Pink":)

The pink uniforms were ghastly.
I'm not sure how any team could take themselves seriously in those outfits. The first thing I would have done at half time was change back to the traditional green strip.
I hope they raised heaps at the auction but I couldn't find anyone who wanted to buy one of the jumpers at any price.

Themed days are very important for clubs / club rugby given the support from above, really felt for you guys whilst sitting in the stand.

And for any ladies that did venture out only to sit in what appeared to be darkness on the other side (same problem as the scoreboard?).

I know someone who bought one to make sure there was one less on the streets after he burnt it.
It was a good inititve by Randwick. The club officials are doing all they can to get people to the game. At Coogee there is a family stand, a sponsors area as well as inititives like ladies day. Can only praise the officials for having a go. Now if they could stop it raining....
How is Coogee oval going to fare with all this rain? Any chance they ground will be closed next Saturday? What about the match of the round?

I think the ladies must have been in the club across the road, watching the game on the big screen. I thought the strip used against Uni a few years ago (also partly pink) was a much better look.

MACCA, I agree about the initiative, but the strip could have been better (see above post). Good questions re the ground. If it rains all week (as predicted) I can't see the council letting them use it.

RAIN!
Does anyone know what Randwick Council are likely to do re use of Coogee Oval saturday? Weather is supposed to improve however the ground will still be a tad wet.

They are usually pretty reluctant to cancel First Grade games on Coogee oval, especially if it is an ABC game.

Usually the lower grades go to Latham Park? and they run first grade only.

I've seen some pretty wet and miserable encounters on the ABC over the years.

Coogee is used for Greco-Roman Rugby on Sundays, so Council need to think about that as well.

I see Pete Samu has been picked at Inside centre and Connor back to 7. Persisting with the four backrowers although im pretty sure Samu has played a bit in the backs in melbourne. Good ball runner, hopefully for our sake its a nice day or could be similar to last week.

Wicks versus Eastwood and hopefully a dry day although some rain is forecast.
Looking at the team sheets on the Wicks web, we have another flanker at centre. You would have to think that Samu would do the job on Mitchel or Macdougal.
The rest of the Wicks teams seem to also be made up with men all mostly under the age 23-24. Bodes well for the next few years.
Could someone in the know confirm this.-Coach?
Good to see some 'early injuries' coming back before the season is done.

Peter samu playing inside centre. should be interesting. Peter Samu played halfback all his juniors before switching in the forwards at u/18 level.

It does look good for Randwick over the next few years as the current crop of Colts have some very fine players moving up next year.

I heard that 3rd and 4th grade woould be at Latham tomorrow, any news on First and Reserve location?
Mitchel on the wing would be a bonus this week as Eastwood seem to run around us in the last few games I have watched.

Mitchell is on the wing in 1sts with Ethan Ford dropping back to seconds.

All lower grades are at Latham:
4th grade: 10am
3rd grade: 11:15am
2nd grade: 12:40pm

Colts are at Epping Boys High at normal starting times
