Bruce has finally blown up.

It's good news for Sydney siders, we had two tests anyway, so nothing changes but the smaller test being played at the sfs instead of anz. That's a good thing isn't it?

Thus SCG trust that owns the SFS and the ARU haunt been close bedfellows for a while so it's good that they made up and were going to get two tests with good atmosphere and one with slightly better drinking.

Really spreading the game aren't they. Oh well, at least it is going to the massive capacity SFS.

What we do know is that Suncorp will have at least Wallabies 1 X Bled and 1 X Wales in 2012, as these games are packaged with a Reds Ruby 2012 membership for those so inclined.

I hope its not that stupid 10 team shute sheild thing, IF that happens, they completely isolate anyone whos not from uni or randwick (not like those people care if they isolate others) a reminder that in the top 4, there are two teams not from the eastern suburbs, including the one which smashes everyone to bits and is way out in front.

If they did that, they'd have to have 2 teams from Melbourne for the same reason.

If Melbourne Unicorns were the team representing Victoria I think I'd go spare.

dodgy deals from the sydney rugby union as usual. surely it would be better for the aru to chose which stadium is more appropriate on a yearly case rather than locking in some long term money grabbing contract. i can maybe handle sevens being moved to gold coast (even though it was just so the aru could stick it in schoolies week and hope people turn up) but Argentina 2012 should be played at Swan St after melbourne got completely shafted of any tests this year. Wales is decent but we have a perfectly good rugby stadium that is waiting for a national team to help pack out the place. Docklands is as bad as olympic stadium when it comes to soulless stadiums.

Well the ARU did give Melbourne a Super Rugby team so they couldnt have been shafted too badly...

Years after the fact. Biggest sports market in Australia, sporting capital of the world, had to wait till 2011 to get a professional Rugby team.

We only offered a state of the art new stadium, instead of some backwards oval piece of crap and a jigsaw puzzle square with seats.

yeah, 8 years later......

get over it, melbourne may be a big market but the market share of rugby is small. you will get inbound test matches in years to come but to claim that your going to sell out the MCG for a bledisloe or south africa etc etc is a little off. The ARU is taking care of there cashcow markets in NSW and Brisbane and VIc and WA have a long way to go to compete on that front.

there is no expansion Scarfie, sydney has had two tests for ages and as a sydney sider i want them, i shouldnt feel bad considering the market i live in and the price i pay to live here. the only change in this announcement is that the smaller test that everyone has been banging on about having no atmosphere due to the lack of crowd it draws will be played at a better suited stadium.

its a win for Sydney. The greatest city on earth and i welcome it.

Melbourne fans can sell out the minnows test in there 30 thousand seat stadium for a few years then complain but the fact is it wont happen, guns back in holsters, the ARU has a duty of care to provide its best content to its best markets and thats Sydney and Brisbane. If im wrong may Adam Frier blog about me in MX magazine.

Lol biggest sports market maybe and Super Rugby team was definately long overdue but i can't agree with sporting capital of the world. I'd say London would have that well and truly covered.

I'm sure if you look up the stats, they'll do the talking. I don't have a problem looking after the traditional markets, they have to keep them happy. Locking in these 10 year deals is ridiculous.

Many have worked their arses off to get the Wallabies on FTA because we believe that the Wallabies are our/the national team, and encourage others to support them. A real shame if its only from a far.

they will get the chance, there locking in long term contracts in markets they see growth and revenue to shore up the coffers and have the money to expand and advertise. Melbourne will get inbound tour matches, these will change year in year out and probably cant be locked in, Italy may play at AAMI, Ireland might play at Docklands etc.

For an announcement billed as "The future of Test Rugby", it is fairly insulting to anyone who isn't NSW. Two tests in Sydney each year, if we are lucky over here in WA we might get to see the Wallabies play Japan in 2018.
