Batrle of the west coasters.

Must win match for both teams. One team have politics problems, the other injury problems. The Stormers have lost Burger, JdV with injuries before the Reds match and now they lost Vermeulen and Aplon also. Bekker should be back to lead this one.

It will be difficult for them but then the young bunch showed their mettled on this tour. Koster and JP du Plessis will get their starting chance in this one.

Longbottom is out and Wykes has done his ACL so gone for the year. Nalaga looks set to return after having a game in the local comp and from all reports was very damaging. I expect him to partner Cummings in the centres (maybe).Sheppard is out for 6 weeks with a broken hand so i think its time Godwin get a real crack and see if he sinks or floats.

Maybe the Force should invest in some sort of 'bubble' for Sheppard to inhabit. It seems like every time he comes into contact with anything, he breaks.

It looked to me as if though the Stormers were a bit tired last week. Now with some injuries and the last tour match it may be a little tough. Also, although the Force have not had the results they are capable of pulling big performances.

I hope we can manage to win this last tour match. Thereafter its a bye and then back home.

Injury update – Gio Aplon, Duane Vermeulen- Monday, April 23, 2012
Gio Aplon and Duane Vermeulen are on their way back to Cape Town and will both miss the DHL Stormers last tour match against the Force.
Gio Aplon has hamstring strain and should be available again for the team’s first SA match against the Cheetahs on 12 May.
Duane Vermeulen sustained a knee ligament injury late in the game against the Reds and will see a knee specialist in Cape Town for further assessment.
DHL WP flank Don Armand and centre Berton Klaasen fly to Perth today to join up with the touring group.
Eben Etzebeth (shoulder) is being managed and a call on his availability will only be made at our last training session. Andries Bekker is however expected to make a return to the team this week against the Force.
“Injuries are part of the game” said the coach. “As a squad you have to be able to handle them. It’s something we have spoken about often. This week it’s the Force and regardless who we select, we will need to again be at our best to take the points. It is a big game for us as a win will mean a very successful tour. There is a lot of motivation in this group to achieve that and we will be going all out.”

Armand and Klaasen aint even in the Stormers squad. Armand played for UCT in the Varsity Cup this year and Vodacom Cup.

I fully expect the Stormers to touch us up this weekend. I don't think we can score enough points against their defence, but with the Force's Jeckyll/Hyde dynamic you just never know, coupled with the strange things that happen when a coach gets boned mid season.

Teams that try to take on the Force up front are more susceptible to their starvation game plan, and if the Stormers fatties don't get it right combined with injuries in the backs, I don't think this will be the walk over everyone is expecting.

Anyway, sweet talked one of our major suppliers new sales reps into getting us some tickets expecting General admission but the man has come through and we're in the corporate box for this one. He is a cape town man so I might pay for it in the long run.

Hope you enjoy it Charger.

Biggest worry for me is Pocock. Stormers got away playing without a fetcher but Pocock is the one player that will hurt us at the breakdowns. Defense will also be weaker without Vermeulen. The guy do a lot of work in defense, taking players back in the tackle.

I really can't see the Force having the fire power to get past the Stormers defence, I don't have very high hopes of them winning another match this season there must be plenty of disarray in the camp with coach gone and talk of Pocock talking to the Brumbies, they will have to recruit very well for next season. Sorry to be a pessimist!!

Wasn't Elizabeth injured before the Reds game? Is he carrying an injury?

That reports says that Vermulen has a knee ligament issue? Let's hope it is not an ACL that would be devastating.

Why is he not the Bok 8man Paarl?

The Force are all texting each other and sitting around on their whining @sses tweeting each other............we want Phil Blake as coach or we're leaving.

It's like an episode from Neighbours where Kylie Minogue couldn't find her hair spray

I'm embarrassed to be a Force fan

The Stormers will put 50 on the Force this week

It's a clusterf'ck in Perth

Because he breaks just before test matches. Injured last year before 3N and again World Cup.

I have been like a stuck record that he is the perfect 8th man if you want to start Burger and Brussow together. Excellent balance.

I believe he was rested in that game as they were 20 - 3 up with 20 min to go

I enjoy your blunt but informed posts waylon. Did you get your rugby education in Perth or elsewhere?

I'll be there with my boy, who will be watching rugby live for the first time. I'll also be with my rabid WP and Stormers supporting mate, so the banter should be quality.

We will get pumped. The Stormers look like championship material this season and have the veritable Berlin Wall for a defence. We're wobbling badly.

He will be the perfect player against the All Blacks. Interesting about Duane is that he study at UJ and could not get a Lions contract, decided to go to the Cheetahs and travelled with Rassie to the Stormers.

I think you may see Phil Blake come up with a master plan for the Force this week and the team if they hope to have Phil take over full time will be super motivated to impress. You know when I've posted before and said that I've just got a feeling about this game......well I've just got a feeling about this game! Sure I've been wrong 100% of the times previously but this time its different....

Stormers for sure are very talented but they're on the back end of a long road trip. Loosing Gio and Vermulen is tough. Need to make sure Habana doesn't get any intercept trys. Interested to see Big Red Steven Kitshoff in action....and wouldn't it have been great if the Force had been successful recruited Peter Grant a few years back.
