lol, you say you wont get excited over Pyle after one game, yet you are more then happy to tout Wykes as the best lock in Australia after only 3 games... His first two games of the season were shit, and even over at TWF people were calling for him to dropped.

Im not saying either Sharpe or Wykes are bad, but you really gotta learn to open your eyes and notice other players apart form Force players if you expect to be taken seriously.

I never said that. Sharpe is still the number one lock. There is a lot of love for hockings over here and too be fair he has had some great games in the past. Tell me who you think are the 3 best locks in aus ATM? At least wykes has had a couple of good games and your blowing your load over Pyle from one.

And too set it strait I said wykes had a great game however I have been talking about sharpe incase you are not reading my posts.

Go the force!!!!

I dunno Gagger, it would at least provide that the person had two eyes, just split between the personalities.

Either that or he would be the greatest troll going around on GaGR.

You are confusing the ratings given by some in one game as being some sort of enduring ranking that indicates who will play Tests in that position in months from now. In that game, Pyle was rated by several as better than his other teammates, hence 3 points, and maybe better than the opposing locks, in that game. So all we can really say is he may have been better, in that game. Do you see where I am going with this?

Look mate I don't know what's going on here. I'm not confusing anything. I'm just talking about Australian locks and what I think is going on there ATM.

I am not the only one saying what I'm saying. Fox sports picked wykes over Pyle and sharpe for that matter. So did rugby heaven.

But I want too leave this conversation because it has become boring and repetitive. if anyone wants too talk about the better locks ATM let's talk but know one has.

Go the force!!!!

The Force crowd have always seemed pretty knowledgeable to me. Certainly more than a lot of the knuckleheads I've sat next to at Dockers or Eagles games.

I think some of those transplanted AFL knuckleheads were sitting next to me, behind me, in front of me and in general, filling the stands around me.

My apologies if I am wrong, but the law of statistics tells me that the knuckleheads outnumber the supporters with a clue.

Hahaha usually I sit next too guys that are long time rugby fans. But it's amazing when people around you have a go at the ref for an offside or something while you are sitting down the other end of the field. Like you have supermans depth perception. Lol

Even longtime rugby fans get it wrong, mainly because they are too far away to see. I love going to the game to get a wider view of what is happening, the TV is so focussed. But unless the action is close to your seat, some of the ref's rulings leave you bewildered. Then you get home and watch the replay and see what the ref saw from 5 metres and you understand what he blew.

Sometimes too, you watch the replay and are still bewildered....... but life is hardly ever fair except when I win. :)

I would appreciate it if you didn't misrepresent what i say, at no point have i been 'blowing my load' i merely said Pyle outplayed Sharpe and Wykes on the weekend, im not entirely sure why you are been so precious over this whole thing, he was clearly part of the better team.

As for rugbyheaven picking wykes over pyle.. well i suggest you go check your facts because Pyle was in fact included in the team of the week.

Yeah he was picked pairing with wykes in the locks. I was
Referring too wykes being picked by 3 and Pyle by 1. I don't think they were the better team scoring 2 lucky try's.

I thought wykes was official mom?

No doubt pyle had s good game but I think wykes had a better game.

Sorry about the blowing your load comment. Just a joke mate but it's hard on the net.

2) The Force supporters (in general) need to learn some of the laws of the game, and specifically, to accept the refs decisions. This is not AFL.

....

This old chestnut, is quite frankly insulting. 1 Rabid force supporter does not make, a state of fools. I've seen this thrown at the Rebels supporters as well. It seems like old money snobbery.

You might note I said I was surrounded by the (in general) Force rugby un-intelligensia. If you are not part of this group then obviously my comments do not refer to you and you don't need to feel insulted.

I was not saying anything about any other franchise, or their supporters. My comments were and are aimed specifically towards the Staurday 2nd April AFL-inspired blue army (in general) at the Force game, who, while showing great support, could do with a class of Rugby Rules 101. (In general).

Clear enough?

How did you assess the rugby knowledge of 20'000 people from your one seat at the ground. You can't say people booing at referees decisions they don't like, because all teams supporters do that.

Considering that a large number of supporters who turn up each week are either SA or NZ expats and grew up with the game, your statement is just a baseless sweeping generalisation.

Enough already you guys.

On Wykes and Pyle:

Hugh plays for my local club the Rats. He's found his way back to Melbourne where he went to school; so I hope that he remembers how to make the return journey to Rat Park. He was a Rat's Colt and got promoted to the Ones in Grade 2 years ago when he was 20 and washing dishes for a living.

He looked likely but skinny at 112kgs in those days and needed some filling out to help with grunt work. He played a MOTM game against Randwick that year and looked good at Manly Oval in 2010. I was looking forward to see him progress but he got injured and dropped out of sight for most of the season.

I wrote earlier this year that he wasn't ready for Super rugby at the minute, but that minute was about April last year when I saw him last. What a difference a year makes. Now he is a strapping young man and we will be keeping our eye on him for the future.

I always thought that Wykes had potential to be a fine/lock 6 at the Super level, but he was just missing that physical edge. As a couple of seasons went by I doubted that he would get it but he is proving me wrong this year and good for him. I just reminds us that we shouldn't be too impatient with young forwards. They need time to grow - and in more ways than one.

He is more skilful than Pyle but is probably a bit light to be a specialist starting lock week in, week out. The Rat will likely end up being handier in the engine room.

There was another young lock who was almost a clone of Wykes and even had the same hairdo: Steve Mafi. He had a similar build and skills, and limitations, but took a different career path before his time. A pity he is not in Oz this year as he would have been ready and starting for the Tahs. O'Connor would never have got his late contract.

Sliding doors - he's ready now and has started for the Leicester Tigers in the last two games.

Must say Pyle played some solid rugby this year. Nice win by the Rebels in Perth, its a loss which will be remembered for a long time by the locals.

That's okay. Rebs fans have remembered being shafted out of a franchise for a long time. Turn around is fair play I guess.
