Can see Link on the sidelines with the headset on...in the box Kafe and Bernie on one side and Foley and Sharpie on the other analysing and offering alternative suggestions IF somethings not working.... Jake will be in a corporate box watching and ringing Bernie if he sees something they miss and all the politics will be forgotten when the big cup comes home again......then i woke up.....

I thought you were trying to convince us of how bad the All Blacks were?

I was. That is the point. We were so astonishingly shit in that game that people didn't realise how badly NZ were playing, and that trend continued up until they were hammered by England.

They played about 80mins of AB quality rugby all year, the rest was average to poor, by their standards.

I will go a long shot and say that Glen Ella for backs coach.

I don't know Matt Taylor's contract situation in Scotland but if available I tip he will be recalled as defense coach.

Is Kefu still coaching in Brisbane? He may get the forwards.

I also think we will see a lot of specialists working with the Wallabies on a casual basis. For instance Topo with the scrum from time to time though Link will probably take this on.

It is important not to shop from the franchises and disrupt their programs moving forward. Being the base it is important we keep them strong and it is positive at the moment and we need to keep it that way.

Link prefers a minimalistic approach to his support staff, i can't see him having a whole line of specialist coaches brought in on short term contracts... Continuity is important

I think Kefu is coaching kabota in Japan

When he came to Qld he had no choice. I don't know if that's his preference of not.

To my mind, Graham Henry's ability to pull in other international coaches on his team for 8 years was the big thing that set him apart - especially after 2007 when Deans' was in the AB frame.

From the media stories and interviews done while GH was coach, it seemed like those 3 were able to disagree and yet still work together and none of them got upset enough when their ideas weren't accepted to throw it all in.

The fact that I cannot even name 1 of Deans' assistant coaches during this Lions series speaks volumes to me.

I think McKenzie will be pretty sharp in getting this right.

I think Link's approach will be a bit different from Deans, who seemed to want to do everything his way with little debate. I'm not a fan of coaching by committee, but in modern rugby a head coach must bring in specialists for key areas. At the end of the day though, the decisions must his because he lives or dies by them. He was an assistant under Rod Macqueen so he's seen how it can work and his own coaching team at the Reds has clearly worked well.

No assistants I reckon.

Link can do it all himself. And drive the team bus. And wash the jerseys. And fill the bottles and cut the oranges.
.

hell the reserves can help too Barb. Actually funny when I read that reminds me talking to daughter in NZ after she had been to a NZ/Aus netball test in Palmerston North, she laughed the NZ team arrived in a mini bus driven by Van Dyke, one of the players, and I had thought geez imagine if rugby players had to do that!!

I don't think that Dingo had much say in his assistants, or worked all that well with those thrust upon him. That may have been one of the reasons for some of the issues we saw with the Deans era Wobs.

He certainly didn't have much of an idea about the holistic side of Coaching when he was interviewed by the NZ Rugby Masters according to Sir Richies book, or at least hadn't given much thought to the team that he needed to assemble to run the whole show.

Within constraints of financial payouts etc, Link should be given some freedom of action to choose his assistants and consultants.

Oh by the way. Pick up the phone and speak to Andrew Demetriou at AFL HQ about who he would recommend as someone who knows about kicking. This skype coaching is absolute nonsense.

Now that is showing utility value as a player! A LR or MR licence is a handy thing to have indeed.

On the coaching appointment I would have been happy with either Link or Jake. A change was certainly needed & we've got it. I can't imagine myself being overly critical of Link early on - he is going to need time to put in place what he wants. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds.

Not sure if we should ask an AFL man about place kicking. More chance asking Gary Edwin or Col Swatton if you want to go outside of Union or League.

Kicking from the hand could be significantly improved.

Some of the Diveball boys should be able to conduct Place kicking coaching work.

Don't care where they come from, just get some on board, and stop the Skype sessions.

What about Hassim el Masri. I still remember his kicking exhibition when he kicked a goal from each intersecting line in the half and dead in front then kicked four from thr 22 metre blindfolded. Carter works with another ex leagie Daryl Halligan and they designed a new tee.

ARU must surely feel vindicated. Jake White loses to the Force and Ewen McKenzie beats the Waratahs without Horwill and Genia.

But the Brumbies wiped the floor with the Force earlier this year, and the Reds have drawn and lost against them.

Is McKenzie really justified in saying things like
"The players aren't smart enough"/"The players aren't good enough"/"The players aren't mature enough"?
