JOC (James O'Connor) is a very young guy with a very large upside, it bothers me greatly that he is always around people with reputations of trouble and problems and that there are constant rumors about him holding himself above teammates and this around him. I wanna give him the benefit of doubt, but I just don't believe he wants fir a team and nit fir himself. Maybe it's generational and I'm just getting ok'd and out if touch, he just seems like a very har guy to like to me.

I find it incredible that KB (Kurtley Beale), QC (Quade Cooper) and (slightly younger) JOC (James O'Connor) are the same age as players like Pocock, Genia, Simmons, McCabe. Their attitude about the game is worlds apart.

The ARU should make a call that the young imrpessionable JOC (James O'Connor), QC (Quade Cooper) and KB (Kurtley Beale) should all be playing at separate franchises.

Sitting near Rod McQueen at the last home game, I was astounded when one of the Rebel Directors publicly berated the World Cup winning coach a couple of times. I'd be surprised if he was around next season. For a bloke who had a reputation as a winner to suffer this, why would you bother?

And if the rumors of Michael Cheika coming to town are true, Hill and some of the assistants will be back at Sydney Uni next season.

Berated him how?

i think that would be called 'restriction of trade' and completely unacceptable for a governing body to dictate where three professionals can and can't play.

the wallabies should instead look to bring a bit more experience into the back line. for my money they are over invested in youth and missing the critical ingredients of maturity and experience. some players are great like digby, mccabe, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Genia. but even genia and mccabe, as you point our, are so young.
they wouldn't hurt from having a few older heads in the back line...or at least in the wallaby camp.

His had his moments on and off the field. At least he got on the field for a decent period, contributed significantly, more than I can say about Rocky.
he scored a great try agains the sharks, set up kingi's try against the force and kicked a penalty (which was a ridiculous call) to win a game.

that ends this list of what he's done on the field (positives) - should we begin the negatives on and off the field?

he's a talented player with diminishing potential. i say diminishing because he is now what...24/25? time to grow up before your best days are behind you and you're just a could have been.

unless he picks it up - he's no chance of replacing farrel at 10.

just cause he was a rebel, doesnt mean he needs to be defended. he brought in headlines and that's about it. he was absolutely sh!t in defense.

That's a big reason why we need AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and for Drew Mitchell to get healthy and hopefully return to top form.

"Why are they doing this?", "Why don't they do that?", "Fix it Rod!", "You need to sort this out Rod!". All loud and easily heard by all in the seating area. Rod responded by smiling and nodding.

As you point out, those are memorable moments. He has played a significant role in the team, it has been noticeable.

Do I want to sit here and bash a player? No. I couldn't care less about England. The guy had time for supporters and I respect that. It's just some banter also.

It has been handled poorly by the club & Danny. Lets move on. Gerrardo is playing his 100th Super Rugby game this Friday night. Champion.

Cipriani is very like Gavin Henson, lots of potential talent but his onfield displays rarely live up to up and off-field he's a disaster. For players like them there always seems to be a club willing to take a gamble on them but I don't Cipriani is ever going to change his ways.

This time it's reported that he asked to be released early so that he could do the full preseason prep with Sale and have a proper rest before hand. Knowing what Danny is like I wouldn't be surprised if he's making the wrong kind of headlines back in England even before he's pulled on a Sale shirt.

Cipriani went to the Rebels to improve as a player but it would have to go down as a failure from that perspective. The potential is still there but he's just as inconsistent as when he went there first. His defence is still suspect and he still hasn't matured enough to realise that being a professional sportsman a certain level of behaviour is expected off-field.

I love this line from the rugby news today:

Cipriani failed to impress at his club Sale Sharks last season, also encountering off-field stories again, most notably when he was hit by a bus in Leeds on a night out. ‘I don’t know who advises him or whatever, but what a shame if he doesn’t fulfil his potential,’ Lewsey said.
That sums it up in a nutshell. Apparently it is always someone else's fault with these guys.

I don't know mate. I was pretty reliant on being told to look left and right before I cross the road.

That's a tough lesson to have to learn from experience.

Cipriani was never the same after he prematurely returned from a dislocated ankle in 2008, the departures of Lawrence Dallagio, Ian McGeehan and Shaun Edwards (part time) from Wasps in the same year probably didn't help either. I always got the impression that those 3 were a huge influence on keeping him on the straight and narrow, moving to the Rebels was a move that was never going to work out for him.

His case should be one of how not to nurture young talent once they have suffered their first serious injury.

With Danny Cipriani's antics surfacing yet again, the time is right to unveil what I would term the Scumbag XV.

1. Richard Loe – Paul Carozza eye gouge anyone?
never happened.

The Paul Carozza issue was with a smashed nose.

New Zealand's leading naso-gastric opthalmologist is best known for his internal inspection of Greg Cooper's eyes. That got him 9 months ban. Not enough if you ask me.

The scumbag of them all (speaking of eye gouging) must be the bloke from Cross Keys who took the sight from Gavin Quinnell's left eye in 2010. Not sure who the grub was. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_union/welsh/9056033.stm
