Not seen any of either in YT.

Knox 2019 win was as at Joey's - https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Z4AoJZPVb7dcZEme/

Barker Joey's 2024 was very early preseason - in March. Briefly discussed here http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/community/threads/cas-rugby-2024.19494/post-1389728
That is pretty big that Knox beat Joeys at hunters hill in 2019, as that year Joeys went undefeated in the AAGPS in 1sts, 2nds and 3rds, achieving the almost impossible golden triple crown. Although, it was a trial, and we know schools like Joeys and Riverview treat trials quite literally as a trial match for individuals to show their talent to make a certain team, not playing them with the sole intent of winning, but nevertheless that is a big statement for Knox to win that match. I thought Knox beat Joeys at hunters hill in 2020, as I recall many people talking about how it was the first time that had happened since the 80's? Did they win at hunters hill in 2019 and 2020?

Would have been great if Joeys and Barker played a full proper 70 minute game, not a 3x20 min game, as that format is very disjointed affects the seriousness of the game and subsequently the result. Would be interesting to see who would win if played as a full proper game.

Does anyone have the draw for next year or any schools already know their trial matches or holiday matches.

This is my guess on the first two weeks of trial games against GPS schools, please tell me if you know what schools are actually being played against during these trial matches and where they're being played.

Knox:
Trial 1 - Joeys at home
Trial 2 - Shore at home

Barker:
April holidays game: Oakhill away or Joeys away
Trial 1 - Riverview at home
Trial 2 - ?

Waverly:
April holidays game: Shore away
Trial 1: Kings at home
Riverview at home

St Aloysius: St Pats away
St Aloysius: St Pius away

Don't know enough on Trinity and Cranbrook to make an educated guess on their trial fixtures. Gone are the days where CAS schools and GPS schools used to be playing against each other a lot more, not just against 1 or two schools from the other competition, like when Knox used to play Riverview and Newington or Barker used to play Shore and Kings, or Waverly used to play Joeys.

What happens when or the other plays a two round comp - preseason gets shortened. As GPS have done since 2023 and CAS did from 2009- 2016.

Hearing that next season will see the introduction of a combined ISA / CAS competition. I believe some schools have already been advised of this.

CAS and ISA will run their own competitions at the commencement of the season. At the end of those competitions, based on a club champs style points system, the top 3 CAS & top 3 ISA teams go into a combined Div 1 competition. Remainder of the teams go into a combined Div 2 competition.

The cross association games then occur over a 3 week period.

I heard the same thing. I'm sure there will be some logistical issues to iron out but I hope this new format succeeds, continues and maybe even expand into the future. Can only be a good thing for schoolboy rugby.

Talking about it expanding, the AAGPS schools could very easily join this if their season was cut back from 10 rounds to 5 rounds. This would also very easily work as all 6 GPS schools join that interschools comp would mean that, there are 6 rounds, where for each GPS school plays the 3 ISA schools and the 3 CAS schools, meaning that any school from ISA, CAS or GPS won't repeat a game from their individual season by playing a team within their original competition, but play every school that is outside their original competition. This also enables the possibility of creating an annual fixture of best NSW school vs best QLD school, which each year could be played to crown 1 school as the best in Australia, and for this grand final fixture to be played as a curtain raiser for the wallabies.

Saw you posted on the AAGPS forum. I think you'll get some interesting responses.

Suspect along the lines of why dilute the standards for ourselves when our comp is so close (6th place had 4 wins this year)
Particularly for the schools who end up in the 2nd div.. get to run up a cricket score against St.Aloys and St.Pats (based on 2024 finish and results).

That's why I said put all 6 GPS schools (not just the top 3) in the top grade of the interschool competition, because they all belong their. The team that came last in the GPS (riverview) beat the team that won the CAS (Barker), so I know that all 6 GPS schools could play in that comp. That is not me trying to brag, just clarifying logistics.

Just read on the AAGPS forum the letter that was sent to St Aloysius parents. The division a team is graded to is not based only on the performance of the 1st XV, but all their teams, which is currently the case within the ISA competition (which has 3 grades in it's own as the ISA goes out of Sydney immensely and has I believe 23 schools). This means that if a team that wins the CAS or ISA in the 1st XV competition struggles in the lower grades, their success at the top can be outweighed by the struggles in the lower grades, ultimately causing the 1st XV to possibly be placed in division 2. This is great though as it rewards the strength of a WHOLE program and not just the 1st XV, which this will also expose importing when you have a very weak program from below and are very strong in the higher levels (Barker does this ring a bell).

Spot on New, was informed the same by the Rugby heads at Waves, it rewards the WHOLE program, which IMO is exactly the way to build grass roots rugby. Clearly it also diminishes the value of just focusing on the 1st XV.

Whilst biased, this will suit the Waves program perfectly, as it is always competitive across the age groups, and it gives a real incentive now for those schools who aren't, if they aspire to build a solid program.

BTW the Waves 2 GPS games next year are Joeys at Joeys and Scots at Death Valley (apparently Scots will have a very strong team next year, thus the local challenge, for once! ;) Then the CAS comp will be completed BEFORE the CAS reps teams are chosen to play the GPS,ISA etc.
Finally the new divisional program will start for 3 rounds between the ISA and CAS top 3 programs.

Sounds TERRIFIC to me, FINALLY some sound planning, albeit the CAS imbalance will still remain, probably the same for the ISA !!!!
It appears that history will prevail for these comps, and I can see the emotion and difficulty in changing such a history.

BUT Bravo to those who thought through these changes!

Missed that bit.. but it would possibly extend the season - needing 11 games for each team, and opens up the possibility of playing someone you played in a trial.

GPS this year was typically
Term 2 - 2 proper trials (ignoring holiday and 3x20 games), 6 games
Term 3 - 4 games

And I think CAS
Term 2 - 5 proper trials, 2 games
Term 3 - 3 games.

Just playing a GPS champ Vs CAS/IAS champ might be easier (and maybe equally 2v2, 3v3) etc, but the main issue i see is that the GPS schools (at least from their perspective that they are the premier comp) really only have downside from agreeing to it.

Now if the CAS/IAS schools start dominating the preseason that might change the narrative.

You must have missed the fact that Barker were joint premiers in 2nd XV comp
