A decent red eased some of the pain: exteriorised a very good bottle of 2006 Hilltops Cabernet Sauvignon (from my stable) with dinner. Trouble is the vineyard's in Brumby's territory and the owners are mad Brumbies supporters. Am I merely encouraging the bastards?

You could slot that into the Oxford dictionary as the definition of a conundrum!

Certainly it is a conundrum if Hilltops is in the Southwest Slopes, hence in NSW, yet the inhabitants there are supporting another state!

Went to the game with a mate on Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, apart from seeing TPN staggering around punch drunk and Lilo with his leg broken. Both were a bit distressing.

The Brumbies were superb I thought. They played a good combination of controlled forward play and getting the ball out into the backs. Nic White was my MOTM and controlled the game brilliantly from the ruck base. His accuracy with the boot was very good and he constantly had the Brumbies on the front foot. The Tahs were far from disgraced, but the further the game went, the less they looked like winning. I was disappointed in Berrick's kicking performance, but far happier with his hands. A couple of those inside balls were fantastic and he ran a bit more, which was a good thing (he has a great step).

I think the telling point in the match was once the Brumbies got in front they were happy to belt the ball down town and back themselves to easily cover any counterattack

The Tahs looked dangerous whenever they played one pass wide of the ruck. If they'd done that all night they would have been in with far more of a shot. They should have just let the outside backs get hypothermia.

Could have been a very different game if Douglas had found Betham with his pass early in the game to score in the corner. Douglas should have looked where he was passing and Betham should have been a bit deeper. Easy chance to score blown. That and the very soft try to Speight before half time were hugely costly to the Tahs. The Brumbies were strong all night though and thoroughly deserved the win. Their control of the ball at the start of the second half until they got Andrew Smith over the line was very impressive.

This was my first visit to Canberra Stadium and I loved it (despite the result). Definitely keen to head back next year. My biggest mistake was not realising that the place would be civilised and sell beer in cans and I left my GAGR stubbie holders at the hotel.

The injury to Lealiifano after the siren was horrible. As a Tahs fan it really gave me a feeling that not only had our season come to an end, we'd also managed to ruin the Brumbies season. Such a sad occurrence considering the siren had gone and the Tahs weren't even in the hunt for a bonus point. I found it bizarre how oblivious Kafer was to the injury when he was interviewing Mowen after the game. It was clear Mowen didn't want to be there and Kafe should just have said "Good game. Best of luck for the rest of the season" and let him go.

When I got home yesterday afternoon, I watched the replay of the Lealiifano injury. I found it bizarre how long it took the commentators to firstly mention that there was a serious injury on the field even though there were trainers signalling for a stretcher then a medicab on the field and then identify it as Lealo. I was at the other end of the field and picked it out as Lealo pretty much straight away.

It became very apparent at the game how unpleasant the injury was when John Ulugia walked over to wish him well then walked away and vomitted. I'm pretty sure one of the Brumbies players did the same.

A couple of comments to common themes in this thread:

·Rocky was expensive furniture at the Brumbies!
· Rockys too cool for school demeanor made him unpopular in Canberra
·Brumbies team spirit is undeniably infectious…
·Mowen has proven he is a admirable Captain…
·Lilo is a champ…
· ACC feel off a lot of tackles...
· and Tahs backs randomly jumping in the air for the high looks wishful at best...

Moving on... scrumhalf Nic White and flyhalf Robbie Coleman already have a plenty of history playing together for club sides and U/20 Australian tournament teams. I don’t think it will take long for them to reignite their successful partnership… Both have since grown as players however the instinctive understanding between both players will again surface with a little work. The bye week will help the Brumbies here.

TOGETHER they helped guide the Queanbeyan Whites to a third premiership in four years.

I think you've hit on the new gameplan for the rest of the year. We have no backs, so dont let them play with the ball.

I hope to see this extended to playing an additional 2 backrowers in the backline. Jenkins at 12 and Elsom at 13 perhaps. We just have a 9, 10 and a back 3.

I thought one bright spot for Tah's was big Sitaleku Timani. He really monstered a few people there on the weekend... If he continues the way he has since coming back from Japan, he has to be in contention for a spot in the Wallaby player group.

I thought he was fantastic.

At a couple of scrums during the first half of the game I noticed that Mowen packed down at 8 and Fotu was at 6. I'd be interested if anyone with laser vision or replay facilities or insight could explain the logic of this swap and how often it took place.
