When the ABs have a team beaten by half time, they turn up the gas and fry the opposition. When we do it we take half the team off and turn the second half into a kick fest. Spose management didn't want any more injuries before Saturday but the second half of that game was lousy. Oh and whilst I am it, should Howley decided to listen to the clamour of voices calling for Hook to play outside half, somebody take him aside and tell him that the chip kick is a fecking useless way of giving the ball straight back to the opposition

Fainga'a, Kimlin, Kuridrana, Sio and A Smith were all very good. Siliva Siliva was bloody good off the bench. His set piece was rock solid and he can make hard yards. Tom Cox showed some serious pace. Holmes is solid but he can't free up a backline....yet. The Brumbies are well coached and showed heart.

Wales were very clinical and well done to them.

Brumbies forwards were ok. But it was a bit like watching Scotland.

Oh and are there any polynesians left who are NOT playing in the ACT?

I thought they did ok. Got involved when required. You can tell they only had a few training sessions with the main squad but didn't disgrace themselves and are a compliment to the local comp.

Gee, that's an understatement IMO BJ. I thought this hastily combined Brumbies A team did phenomenally well in offence and defence to put 15 on and hold to a 10 gap vs an extended national squad build around 6N winners!

A great credit to the new ACT RU coaching (and selection and development) regime that an 'A' team that's barely performed together can put on a quality performance like this vs top international opposition. This from a franchise that was in serious commercial and playing peril only 12 months ago.

Shows precisely what can be achieved in Aus rugby with the right leadership and culture re-build.

Now if the WRU were able to film it, why couldn't it be broadcast LIVE, even via a stream? Not that I'm saying the onus is on the WRU here.

Sounds like the young Brumbies did themselves proud... Just goes to show the John.I. Dent cup stands up to international standards... Well done lads... a couple of Brumby internationals in the brumbies squad and they Welsh would have been done slowly... AS This young brumbies team had never played together...

Highlights from last night's game here

Thanks for posting that link to the highlights. That's what I like about this forum: you get links like this to videos or interesting articles that you wouldn't otherwise know about.

We have given little credit to Wales which was essentially an A team who also wouldn't have played together before. They may have played a Brumbies team that had only two regular starters in it, a third who started about half the games and a few others with a few starting games, but they did a lot better than the Wallabies dirt trackers on the 2010 EOYT. Against Munster they lost to a team of mostly 2nd or 3rd string players, plus Academy players and Paul Warwick. They also nearly lost to a similar type Leicester team the week before.

It's a pity that they didn't schedule another game against a Super team for next Tuesday so that the Wales dirt trackers got a 2nd gig - or an Oz A team of players outside of the top 25 Oz fit guys. That would have spread the load amongst the 5 Super teams who are resting as many players as they can.

LG,

From what Rob Howley was saying post match, this game was a favour to the Welsh from the Brumbies. I think the Jake White influence had a lot to do with it.

I remember seeing a proposed fixture of Scotland v. NSW for last week, which obviously never went ahead for whatever reason.

Waratahs seemed to get into "event marketing mode" and creating a Baa Baas type hype, instead of throwing it on at say North Sydney Oval and staying low key

Scotland scratch Waratahs clash

11th May 2012 11:18

The Scottish Rugby Union have announced a revised schedule for Scotland's tour to the southern hemisphere.

Andy Robinson's men are scheduled to play Tests against Australia, Fiji and Samoa and were originally penciled in to play Super Rugby outfit the Waratahs too.

However, the clash with the Sydney-based outfit has been removed from the itinerary.

"We have had confirmation from the Waratahs that due to injuries and the requirements of the Wallabies squad they would be unable to fulfil the fixture," explained Scotland team manager Gavin Scott.

"We have looked into alternatives but, unfortunately, nothing else fits into our tour schedule."

The welsh team played strongly unti half time then switched off. Drove me nuts, but there we go. The only aim second half was to avoid injuries. The second half was IMO a contact training session.
