I’d be hesitant about Netflix…

they can be brutal in terms of production costs and cutting programs, even seemingly successful ones.

They’ve got enough money and alternate content to make ruthless decisions and cut programs that aren’t fulfilling metrics.

They cut just about everything eventually. I think the only decent Netflix show that made it past 2 seasons was Stranger Things?

Where does decent begin and end? Of what I can remember off the top of my head: Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Ozark, 13 Reasons Why, The Crown, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Sex Education, Bojack Horseman, and Emily in Paris all have at least 4 Seasons.

Certainly not saying your point is incorrect though, they're pretty ruthless even when something is reasonably good if it's not driving new subscriptions.

It would need to be a lot more than $1 more to justify a swap, particularly if all the offers are below the ~ $50 million it looks like we need. There's a very real cost associated with that change over to a knew platform and a risk of fan attrition as a result. The other big question with moving from Stan/Nine to another platform is going to be how you value that marketing contra and having presence in what is now the biggest (only?) Australian news media conglomerate with a heavy sports broadcasting presence.
This was massive for Cricket in deciding to stay with 7/Fox at the time, despite having a (rumoured) larger offer from paramount/10.

The Fox/ Newscorp connection and the amount of media they (still) receive was seen as pivotal in driving interest and eyeballs to the game, despite Cricket being the biggest summer sport in the country and one of the most popular anyway. Rugby doesn't have the clout to engage audiences on it's own without a connection to another media publisher - so feel it needs to be with 9/Stan or Fox, while Fox retains it's connection to newscorp for the next little while.

I've got to say. FOX's coverage of the cricket is excellent and we are quite spoilt.

I realised this after seeing the NZ coverage in their series against England. We are truly lucky.
I agree, Fox seem to do a bloody good job of cricket coverage. NZ will never compete the game isn'tpopukar enough over here to spend too much on coverage, and why it's generally on FTA.

It's a hard no for Rugby to move to Dazn. I just helped my FIL set up Dazn so he could watch the EFL Cup.

The application is absolutely terrible. I thought it was his fires tick so I bought him an Apple TV and it was just as crap on that.

The EPL is moving to self producing content and is moving away from relying on broadcasters. It's something WR (World Rugby) should consider doing to be honest and sell every game in the world to punters. A true one stop shop.
