Where did they say 'screw you'?. They said we want to get paid for working over time. Thats all.

Not true. They were happy to work overtime for nothing, just not at the SFS to help out the NSWRU and ARU (even if all surplus went to charities across the states).

That's a "fuck you"

No, they said of course they would do a trial if it was part of the squad training and selection in the lead up to the EOYT, but if it was going to be an additional game which is a commercial venture then they wanted to get paid for it. And they only wanted to get paid an Australia A type of fee. I really don't see the problem.

The fuck you came from the ARU, who decided that despite wanting to organise a commercial game, they didn't want to pay the players to play in it. When the players rightly asked to be paid, the ARU said 'fuck you' we will call it off, and then release it to the media at the most inappropriate time.

What do you think would happen if the players had agreed to play in it for 'free' and the ARU had then asked for the ground and staff to be provided free of charge? Do you think it would have gone ahead.

I really don't see the issue you are having with the players here?

I agree, the players have every right to be paid for a commercial game (it is a professional sport for f*ck sake), what disheartens me is the total lack confidence by the promoters that they couldn't get a crowd to make the game at least break-even.

I'll be very interested to see what Rod Kafer has to say about this on the Rugby Club on Thursday night. I will be even more keen to see if Kearns takes him to task if Kafer does what he usually does, which is back Dempsey.

*Sigh* Kearns let me down badly.

Martin, Kafer and Kearns all had one word to say about it: Money!

Only Clark had the grace to mention the paying public and the feeling of hurt, anger and disillusionment.

Given Kearn's history I'm surprised you expected anything else?
