I hope Gatland picks a close to full strength team and we belt them :)

Should be a good game, some decent possible reds teams proposed. If Gatland tries to run dead I reckon we will roll the c***s, in the immortal words of Van Humphries

Looks like I may be hopping across the world to see this one in person. I may be at the Reds v. Rebels match on the 1st too if anyone in the Brisbane area wants to meet up. :D

Any suggestions for a place to pick up a Reds supporters shirt? Reds merchandise doesn't exist in America. I got a supporter's flag the other year and payed three times the cost of the flag in shipping.

Lovell Rugby is good for gear. Usually cheaper than buying domestically even with shipping.

Will the Queensland side be compromised by the announcement of a handful of important players chosen to represent the combined country team? I sincerely hope not, I bought tickets with the expectation of seeing the best side Qld could possibly put out (minus Wallaby selections of course)

I'll be pretty pissed. It sounds like they are only 'potentially' taking Holmes, Daley and Robinson.

If Robinson goes maybe Ah-Wong will get a crack?

Similarly stacks of country folk have brought tickets to a game advertised as NSW/QLD country combined vs B&I Lions in the expectation of seeing 22 (or are we playing 23 man squads?) players who do not play in Shute Shield or Premier Rugby competitions have a go at the Lions.

I prefer it to 30000 of us sitting there like mutes.

The last 2 times I went to Suncorp, that peanut on the mike was superfluous. The fans seemed vocal enough.
They had an idiot doing that at the Tahs in seasons past - the, albeit smaller, crowds this year are making more noise without it.
Suncorp, and the Reds, don't need it.

I don't mind it (can take it or leave it), the guy doesn't always choose the timing very well though. The kids near where I sit seem to get a real kick out of it and get involved with it.

I have never sat there like a mute, even when we were losing most games. I also recall Red, Red , Red chants waaaay back at Ballymore along with many others..... We aren't like the Tah's fans!

Have to say I am really looking forward to this game, a really good preview into how the Wallabies might be played under Ewen. The Reds should be in ok shape save for the loss of Genia and I'd say that if Quade gets any kind of platform he is going to terrorise them.

The extended Country Squad has been named and the Reds potentially missing for the Lions Tour game are:

Wallabies:
Genia
Horwill
Digby
Simmons
S.Fainga'a
Gill
Slipper

Country:
Butler
Enever
Robinson
Daley
Holmes

The Wallabies guys were always going to be gone so that's ok but I was hoping that we would be naming a pretty strong side anyway but the farce of the Country Squad being full of ring-ins has detracted from this game.

So what does our First XV look like now?

1/3 Anae, ????
2 Hansen
4 O'Donohue
5 Samo?
6 Ah Wong
7 Quirk (Will Browning be available?)
8 Schatz
9 Lucas
10 Cooper
11 Moz
12 Ant
13 CFS
14 Davies
15 Lance

Res.
16 ?
17 ?
18 ?
19 Wallace-Harrison
20 Harris? (although you'd prob want the extra forward reserve as that is where we've been decimated)
21 Taps
22 Frisby
