Well after all the predictions i actually like the new format for 2011.
Again, as long as it's not Melbourne but a place that actually grows some rugby talent.

What about Diggers and Tahu... Not to mention Weary Dunlop!

so five in 10 years, great proportionality there pals considering how you all bitched like stuck pigs when the Force raped Qld.
You know my point and have all reiterated the same on many times previously so don't stand on your hobby horses and turn like confused schoolgirls just because someone has an argument.

Melbourne has not and never will produce the players that come from Qld or NSW and I for one do not fell they will ever increase the rugby following down there to the point it could even provide a small flow of players so why are we even contemplating rewarding a region that has done nothing in the past and will in all probability and possibility do nothing in the future to expand and develop rugby and only suck what valuable funds there are into their black hole. I ever get cheesed off when they have tests there - the plan just isn't working.
Melbourne always was and always will be a small time bit player when it comes to rugby.

Agreed, but its still 10 times the player the West has been. Sure, Digby, Rocky Elson and Lloyd Johansson all learned their rugby up here in Qld, but all are Victorian born.

As I've said elsewhere, I'll only support a 5th team (or even a 4th team) if its called Qld White. It can be based on the Coast, thats fine.

At least in Melbourne people will actually turn up and watch... (Myself included..)

The Melbourne Rebels were "proof of concept" as far as I'm concerned. I'm 100% behind them.

Western Sydney?????????? I live here and wouldn't support them, plus Melbourne has developed its grass roots rugby better than Western Sydney.

Gold Coast? Can we call them the Aces, have them play at Carrara and have exactly no-one turn up? Plus, it is a high price to pay to spoil the one-team-per-state model that we run here in Australia for 120 years.

On a serious note, where would a Melbourne team play? Do they have a decent rectangular field to use - they should avoid the mistake of co-opting an AFL round stadium a la the Farce.
And not where the Storm play - there are no in-goal areas.

I don't think you can quite categorize the players born in Melbourne as from there in terms of development.
If you actually go to Perth they actually have a very strong and vibrant rugby culture - far greater than what is in Melbourne. The yarpies have only added to this.
One would hope the ARU learned from the Force mistake but now its done I hope they stay - rugby over there has genuinely prospered following the inclusion of the Force despite the rape and pillage establishment.
As for our 5th team - I understand it is NOT an ARU sole decision - it is a SANZAR decision so anything is possible.
One can only hope it's on the Gold Coast - better facilities, better climate, great supporter base, absolutely great feeder and development base, don't have to drive to Brisbane. The only thing is we will have to remove the Qld II tag from the Force.

Pedallist, the Mexican government have agreed to build a new rectangular stadium (to be called the "Rectangular Stadium"!) for the Storm, Melbourne Victory and a Super side. It's on the site of the current Olympic Park and is scheduled to be finished next year.
I reckon "Oblong Oval" would be a better name, just to really confuse the Mexicans!
