Updates on the NSWJRU U18 Program

The U18 City vs Country match is only the first step in selection to a NSWJRU team. schedule below

Sydney/ NSW Country U18 Rep Program
• Sydney U18 v NSW Country U18 (11th June, Concord Oval, Concord, 3.00pm) *NSW I Coaches decided from this game (winner)
• Sydney U18/ NSW Country v Combined High Schools U18 I & II (17th June, Warnervale, Central Coast – 12.00pm & 1.30pm))

From here a NSWJRU I and NSWJRU II team will be selected from an internal trial day on 24th Jun.
*Note - there is somewhat of a second chance for selection - players that may have missed out on the Sydney or NSW Country U18s yet compete in the Opens at the NSWJRU State Championships are still eligible for selection into one of the NSWJRU teams.

That is a very, very, very good (almost kiwi-esq) NSW 1s pack. I like it a lot.

All very mobile, athletic and skillful, but still strong in set piece.

Bell sometimes slips into playmaker role for New and is a strong ball runner.

Pollard was a flanker until recently and is a wrecking ball runner.

Lambert was named one of the best at the Scots 7s.

Williams and Harris are two of the quickest in Scots team, backs included. Williams is a try scoring machine.

Freeman won NSW schools player of the year in 2017.

Reimer and Moretti are quick, physically imposing and link brilliantly with backs.

Great forward pack. Should go real well at Riverview.

They will need to be strong in the set piece Rich.
Queensland have a 133kg prop called Zane Nongorr who will need to be contained.

Good work, W88

Gee, there’s some firepower in this CS squad.
Not sure if it’s backed up by results across the years at the Aus Schools Champs, but I do love the CS team. It’s the only one where it’s inherently a “national” side - at least in the pools to be drawn from. And I always get the impression that having dipped out on getting a nod from their own State, the CS squad pulls together as a unit just that bit tighter, just that bit quicker, with just that bit more to prove than their teammates of only last week! ;)
Great to see all these lads getting to run on at Riverview next week, and not just up and down the sidelines.

Well done to all the boys selected for Combined States.
As far as results are concerned the CS team missed out on making the Final in 2016 by a whisker and ended up beating Victoria for 3rd spot.
The players will enjoy the lead up week in camp; the camaraderie and the week of competition against the best in Australia.
I agree; they have a little more to prove than the other teams. Perhaps a bit more motivation but whether they finish first or last they're in the race.
The selection of Lathan H-W proves that selections are not based solely on Rep games. Good luck to him.
