I have no specific knowledge but I would not be at all surprised to find out that the Wests Tigers were paying his school fees.

Well now we know why RA aren't funding the Rebel's women's team - the budget for that is going straight into a SC's yacht refurbishment

Yeah it's not a lost player in reality. Iv'e said the same thing on a few threads but in March Shane Richardson (Tigers CEO) and Benji Marshall (Head Coach) said he was a must retain from their Harold Matthews side. This is the same as Cam Murray when he was at Newington just a different NRL side.
He'll be up for a new contract before he's 21. Hopefully a positive experience in Rugby can mean RA and a Super Franchise won't have any potential approaches ignored.
And before him, Tahs legend Tepai Moeroa.

Would cost less than half his annual salary to keep the girls on the park. As someone who has raised money to help support young girls in the pathways to try and become a rebel decisions like this are pathetic

I completely agree with the sentiment but again, getting upset about this ignore the reality of the situation. The report came out today - but when Sua'ali'i's contract was signed, the Rebels we're a functioning franchise (at least outwardly anyway) and the decision to fund the women's team OR fund this contract wasn't in front of them.
The Rebels administration where lying to everyone about there financial situation, how could anyone have possibly predicted this?
Be as salty as you want - but what do you genuinely expect RA to do about it?
Walk away from the deal? Get sued and pay him out anyway without benefiting from his services and still not have the cash to fund the rebels w?

Well funny that you have accepted that as fact when it is one of a number of claims up for dispute in front of the federal court. Also RA knew the overall financial position of the game was precarious at best that’s why they were desperate for a private equity deal to prop the administration up. Maybe at the time they could have taken the prudent approach and not spent the PE money on a single player before they closed the deal

What money? JS money was for nothing other than him from my understanding. He hasn't taken food out of anyone else mouth.
Iv'e seen a few people say we could have used that for xyz but we couldn't of because it wouldn't have existed for that.

Nothing against the kid, he would be crazy to knock back that deal. But the game didn’t need to get into a bidding war and pay overs for him in the first place

There is no reason to not accept them until they've been successfully challenged in court, and even if they knew - I'm not sure how knowing changes anything when the club put itself in $23M in debt with assets that amounted to the trade in value of a used Toyota Camry.
And again - I agree with the sentiment that it was a poor look for the game to be splurging that money on a single player at the time (or any time that matter) but trying to connect the two as if the downfall of the Rebels is somehow the fault of RA, or RA signing Sua'ali'i is frankly - ridiculous.
This is beside the point - but around half the deal is being paid for outside of the RA books through private benefactors which significantly reduces the burden on RA anyway. This doesn't change the fact that the reason the Rebels W wont run next year because the Rebels don't exist and can't direct revenue their way - and also the fact that the Rebels not currently existing is mostly the Rebels fault.

The Rebels don't exist because because of a whole lot of factors, of which we have discussed ad nauseum for the last 10 years, check the "where to for Super rugby" blog. Blaming it on whoever controlled the Rebels just ignores the root causes for the games decline in this country.

What? Don't the NRL know that they have to grow the footprint of the game and provide pathways and opportunities for professional contract of their game will die?!?! All of those league players will now head overseas....

Why not? The games future in this country relies on the Wallabies and this kid has the potential to be an elite player
