Sigh, Phil Waugh. Seriously? Another banker running Rugby Australia? I've seen that show twice before.

Give us someone who actually has experience managing in a sporting organisation not the financial sector.
Waugh has a solid mid level executive career at Westpac and Nab however no where near the level of what you would expect of a CEO of a major sporting organisation. Would be a big step backwards “jobs for the boys”appointment if he makes CEO. Nothing against the bloke but we need someone at a much higher level.

Without jumping too much into corporate BS, we have a great opportunity to appoint a disruptor who could make fundamental changes to the familiar path we've been on for the last several years. It has the potential to change the image of rugby in the country.

On the other hand, maybe Eddie and McLennan are the people to play that role, and we need someone a bit more restrained to balance them out.

Todd Greenberg (former NRL CEO) and Kylie Rogers (current Executive General Manager Customer and Commercial at the AFL) are some of the other names floated. I don't know much about Rogers but has worked with MacLennan before at channel 10. On the face of it both look significantly better credentialed for the role than Waugh.
Greenberg or Greenslade?

He does have a Masters degree, and a good rugby playing background. I have observed him at close quarters, he used to have a holiday home at Terrigal, and comes across as a pretty decent human being. I would have him on a short list if I were involved.

3/4 (some would argue the last... I digress) are totally irrelevant to being a good CEO.

Whoa, a Masters degree?

And a holiday home in Terrigal?

Couldn’t have said it better. Rugby needs to be a disruptor in the market.

Agree with this; might be a bit early for Waugh in career terms. Sure he has been inside the halls for a while and that can help, but it can also hinder when it comes to the reform we need.

This talk of the "golden decade" from Lions tour through to 2 x RWC etc makes me nervous TBH.

It is no time for continuing what is in place and living off the tourist money - that will eventually run out, and if the changes we need aren't done, we'll be back in the shit once the 10 years is up.

They should appoint someone from outside the tent or an ex wallaby who is experienced beyond aru
I would put forth Mike Pyke.
Played international for canada
Played for Edinburgh and in top 14 and then the Sydney swans.
Has spent the years since his retirement in investment banking for Moelis very close to c suite executives - lads who all know how to run a business and in the case of pridham - oversee success with the swans In a difficult sporting market
