Any suggestion that possible private equity had anything to with change of CEO is to be honest ridiculous, or should be, if anyone thinks RA is letting potential minority shareholders tell tham how to run game , you must hold the Chairman and board in very very low esteem!

Awful idea.
Shit bloke. Gaffe prone. Lots to
Not like about his collingwood legacy
The club was broke when he took over uncompetitive on the field at its lowest ebb and he rebuilt it into the financial powerhouse it is today. They also turned it around on the field breaking the drought in 2010 and making 4 other GFs and 4 prelims. They had 9 top four finishes in 22 seasons. The reason Collingwood is the dominant brand in the AFL is down to Ed.

He would bring in a lot of sponsors dollars with his business connections as well.

They should appoint someone from outside the tent or an ex wallaby who is experienced beyond aru
I would put forth Mike Pyke.
Played international for canada
Played for Edinburgh and in top 14 and then the Sydney swans.
Has spent the years since his retirement in investment banking for Moelis very close to c suite executives - lads who all know how to run a business and in the case of pridham - oversee success with the swans In a difficult sporting market
Lol Pridham he just puts his hand out to the AFL to get more cash. Still crying about them loosing the tort that was the cost of living allowance. What’s he going to do when he can’t go to Gill or the commission and ask for more money?

If you were going down the afl path Brendan Gale would be a much better option. Outside of Collingwood Eddie failed pretty badly in running channel 9 & he was well past his use by date at collingwood & went out in utter disgrace.

I agree it needs to be someone that has knowledge of the Sports world. We can look at the NRL who has tried the business only minded person and it was clear the game suffered.

Does it have to be Rugby? No but it would be nice from a PR point of view. I look at competitions like the NBL that were as good as dead and got taken over by Larry Kestelman and he got Jeremy Loeliger as CEO and have brought it back to being a popular sport that is growing fast.

It is a sport in a unique position in Australia like Rugby that it is global but also has to run efficiently to survive in Australia. They have just hired David Stevenson from the AFL who was working in Operations so who knows maybe Loeliger can be worth one of these famous Hamish Coffee dates.

Thats why I thought we should head hunt James Sutherland. Both his kids are now adults playing professional sport & no disrespect to Golf Australia but he is better than that.

Gale wouldn’t want the job. He will get paid more money by the AFL to set up the team in his home state. Then likely becomes the successor to Dillon

Also Eddie’s departure was massively overblown. All the change that the club is getting credit for now was brought about by his actions. There was a lot of tall poppy syndrome trying to tear him down.

Unlike other clubs Collingwood faced up to the past. A lot of what was in the review was unrelated to Ed. Syd Jackson admitted he lied about being racially vilified by Lee Adamson to get off so he could play in the 1970 GF. The disgraceful comments by Allan McAlister were prior to Ed taking control. Same with Monkhurst incident and the Winmar incident.

Collingwood copped it for having no indigenous players towards the end of Ed’s time despicable that being the AFL’s fault as all indigenous players went in zones and not the draft and in east Melbourne where the pies zone was their were no indigenous boys.

Yet funnily enough Hawthorn never copped any scrutiny for having an active policy of not recruiting indigenous players.

Is what happened in the past right of course not, but even the Gold Coast suns a club that’s 12 years old has had allegations of historical racism.

If any sports club in Aus conducted a review they would all find shameful chapters in their past.

While I agree coming out and saying the review is a proud day wasn’t the way I would have presented it.

But if you look at all the change that has been made and the club taking a leadership role in this space in the AFL it is a turning point for the club and as the club continues to evolve in this area it will become a moment that the club can take pride in. I had a lot of mates go down to Vic Park for the healing ceremony they hosted the other week. There is a genuine commitment to change

It would have been the easy thing would have been just to ignore it as every other club did.

That's a long bow to draw. He was really good with minor blemishes (mainly the coaching handover) until 2013 then the wheels started to fall off. After the 18 GF was the time to go, beyond that was just desperate.

What are they meant to do with the coaching hand over? People forget how poor they were at the start of 09. Mick was lucky not to get sacked on the spot. They were 3-5 when they were meant to be flag contenders. That finality in Mick’s tenure lead him to recruit Jolly and Ball and get the flag. They don’t win that premiership without the handover

Eddie was hanging on for dear life at the end purely because he wanted to become the longest serving president, there was already board unrest & ppl undermining him creating board unrest that had not been there for 20 years the do better report was just the final straw. He was also on the nose at Triple m & quietly got moved on.

Agree Gale prob wouldn't, but Eddie is not the person for the job.

He quit triple M. He is still all over the media.

He’d do a great job I often disagree with him but we need someone who is inventive. Look at the stars and the interest in them when Eddie ran them. Now they are a joke playing games at the junction oval

He quit after he got told the breakfast show was being replaced. I know ppl who know Marty Sheargold & he was head hunted in sep/oct of 2021 & Nova asked him to finish up at the end of the week this was before Eddie & Darcy knew the show was to finish. When they got told Eddie chose to leave. He still had a job at mmm if he wanted just not his show.

He wouldn't do a great job he has zero understanding of the landscape of world rugby
